Probably vuplus-shutdown calls "shutdown" when it's being removed.

Solution is to manually remove it so it cannot do the shutdown. Since the bug is in an existing package, it can't really be fixed from within the feed.

Just re-flashing with today's version should be the easiest way around it.

If you flashed with today's version, you can update again, otherwise you still need to re-flash.

Solution

Run in console:

chmod -x /usr/bin/turnoff_power

Then update/upgrade the box. ;)

Explanation: This command takes the execute rights from "turnoff_power" and the box an not power off.

Works perfectly. Does it need to be returned to previous state?

No, because the new (upgraded) package is ok (executable). ;)

You can check it with:

ls -l /usr/bin/turnoff_power

As you can see it has "-rwxr-xr-x" which means it is executable -> all is fine. B)

Same goes on with my Solo2 box.

I will implement suggested solution tonight and hope it works.

Ok, this may work but if you do it this way without flashing will opkg recognize new available updates? From the reports in other postings I fear not.

I've tried updating through the GUI on the satbox and it seems to recognize and update the box after the mentioned procedure
