Since quite a long time I have been experiencing the following when using a streaming feature in OpenWebif.

When I first open a stream, it stutters terribly and is not watchable at all (I tried watching for a few minutes but nothing changed). 

After closing the stream and opening again the same stream (or any other) it can be watched perfectly on my home computer.

Am I the only one experiencing this? I am using ET9000 and 10/100 wired Ethernet connection to my router.

I have not tried streaming via webif, but streaming between two ET10000. This doesn't work anymore. Loooong interruptions. (Simple playback of a file on the HDD of the other ET).

 

Also, a simple playback of file on a NAS causes long interruptions. Even the read-in of a directory takes minutes.

 

I have the impression that something went wrong with the network-related part of the image.

 

This is an important feature for me and it would be great if someone from the PLI team could check this.

There is nothing wrong with "the network-related part of the image". The image finds a network interface, assigns an ip adres and the linux kernel + driver does the rest.

 

I am not saying there can't be a problem, I am saying it cannot be related to anything in the image.

XtrendET, I think what you are referring to is something different.

I am talking about a very specific situation.

I start streaming a HD channel (not sure about SD) and it is unwatchable, so I stop streaming and start again (everything is done via OpenWebif and VLC) and this time the picture runs smooth.

Noone else experiencing this on ET9x00?

I've seen that phenomenon on various STB'es from various manufactureres. Only not that much.

So I understand it is not a common issue and may be related to an individual setup, such as router used, VLC version etc.?
