After update samba  not work . always the same error.

Checked smb.conf ( always the same for years )

 

opkg udate & opkg upgrade

removed and installed opkg samba & rm -rf etc/samba

Pc win view the solo2 on network group, but  message: user not enabled, always.

Flash  img 19/12/2014 & filezilla to change workgroup ( smb.conf ) & reboot ( 1 Time ).

Samba work perfectly.

Reboot ( 2 Time ), Pc win view the solo2 on network group, but  message: user not enabled.

Try to update samba with the last version.

 

 

opkg update.

opkg upgrade samba

 

or

 

opkg update

opkg remove samba

opkg install samba

Checked everything, everything ok . (Files , rc , init , net , etc. , etc. , )
By mistake , in firefox ip decoder / hdd, responds openwebif , the page does not exist . I close firefox , and magically everything works perfectly .

When I look at the package list there is no cifs mentioned in any of the packages except the cifs package itself...

Ok, tried this on my solo2 with image of 1224, 1221, working box, no working cifs mount (creative, as it's my replacement hdd)

 

Tried flashing 1218 and 0128, both boot up to pli image, can login via ssh, no response on the screen. All images hang on 'UBIFS Update' while flashing. (first time waited 1 hour, afterwards didn't wait to long on it)

 

Tried flashing 1224 again, will let it run until finished or I'm fed up with waiting. I hope it finishes and reboots by itself, else I'll need to download the Doctor Who Christmas episode.

Just to be on the safe side did you do an opkg update before you tried to install the packages

All my mounts i gone and I can not mount again. No alternativ works

Are your feeds complete? What if you type opkg update?

Feeds are complete as far as I can determine, did the update several times, this is the output...

opkg upgrade gives an update of oscam (to version 10096), but another install of kernel-module-cifs reports again that is can't be found.

 

Could this be cause due to the fact that the flash hangs on "ubifs upgrade" (started yesterday 11:30, killed it at 22:10)

 

Just noticed I can download fresh images again, so will try the 1226 image today. If this doesn't work I'll just have to switch back to nfs. Nice, playing with a NAS, but the small one I have is limited to cifs.

Ok, 1226 gives same result, hang on 'UBIFS UPGRADE', no cifs to be found. Reverted back to nfs, that at least works.

There is no kernel-module-cifs on the feed for the solo2 as far as I know, at least it is also not there on my solo2

I had flashed my Solo2 with the image of the 19th of december 20.29 hrs and it is working fine, also with cifs share.

Good catch, there is indeed no cifs kernel module for the solo2 (and we never mentioned that), it's still in the kernel like it used to be.

If the flashing doesn't work, I'd suspect the USB stick. Many people (including myself) have downloaded the images from the website, put it on an USB stick and flashed succesfully (including duo2 and solo2).

And then when it is not working .. what did you do then ?

Openpli is not working as before. It is a  lost

There is already a patch submited that compiles cifs on kernel, but the vendor did not accepted yet.

Samba share sometimes works , crashes every reeboot . Now even the DVD ( USB ) is not mounted , seen only as sg1 and stops them .
One thing that has always work is the nas mounted as cifs .

"When it did not work" I took another USB stick and yet another USB stick and "then it worked".
