Hi, After the update (VU+ Duo)  files 191 tuner restarts and never turn on. It is necessary to upload a copy via USB. What's happening again? Regrads

Kernel update (to fix the problems with cifs and ext4). Kernel updates don't go smooth with updates yet on VU+, so you must flash, again. They seem to have fixed it now, but I haven't tested it.

VU+ Uno here.

Online update failed miserably - STARTING forever after a reboot

Flashing the today's image results in missing ext4 drivers, telnet is not enabled (?), ssh not accessible for obvious reason.

Finally connected with ssh after manualy restoring ~/.ssh and found that dvb drivers are not up-to-date:

vuplus-dvb-modules-vuuno - 3.9.6+20141021-r0.1 - vuplus-dvb-modules-vuuno version 3.9.6+20141021-r0  Hardware drivers for

Best update ever :)

Same $hit different day ?

Does anyone tried the online update for Vu Duo (image from dec 30) ?
Is it ok or do we need to reflash the box ?

I see that there are 331 updates for my vuduo this morning.

Is it safe to update?

I did update by flash the December 20th update and my box has been working fine since then.

I don't want to break it again.

I suggest you wait until VU+ has sorted out it's kernel mess, because it's still not correct, so expect more bulk updates in the near future.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Where can we watch the changelog of the mentioned kernel works and who/where will  post that the mess has been cleaned up and image is usable ?

There is no changelog of this specific issue.

The BSP layer, the source repository that contains box specific settings, is maintained by the vendor. We don't have access to it, and don't control it.

If they make a change that has impact on the kernel (new version, new kernel options or compile time switches), it will result in rebuilding half the image, which is why you see so many updated packages. Which surprises us as much as you. Especially when it seems to be done without proper testing, and the next day important kernel options are missing.

You get a message on the box to warn you about this when you want to update, or on the website when you want to download a new image. It's currently active for all VU+ boxes. When it's fixed the message will disappear.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

But the message implies that if you have done a flash since 20/12/14, it is safe to update your box in the normal way.

So, if there is still currently a problem, then this warning message is misleading!

It was true, but after that VU+ changed the kernel options. The message has been changed to reflect the current status.

Is this kernel problem affecting all images or just OpenPli?

I can't say, I don't use other images. It will affect all images using the VU+ BSP layer.

It is a temporary problem, VU+ is aware of it, and they are working on it (they have fixed the cifs issue, but still need to fix the missing ext4 module).

There is no new functionality between your last flash and now, so you're not missing anything by enjoying the holidays and resisting the urge to update for a few days... ;)

Actually there is no "missing ext4 module" issue. The module has been integrated into the kernel (exactly like we requested) so there is no module, no package. Check with cat /proc/filesystems

So the image is 100% complete again? After flashing it no more huge package updates tomorrow? If so, the warning on the site/box needs to be changed.

But the ET's had also huge packets to update, that has nothing to do with the VU's BSP layers

Indeed, the huge updates are caused by problems in the building process that we still haven't been able to solve permanently, unfortunately.

The reason why the VU+ image doesn't boot is still the same, the kernel gets written to the flash (because a kernel update is necessary), but it isn't erased first, because the necessary tool mtd_erase is missing. VU+ has corrected this now, but I am afraid there still needs to be one round of flashing. And maybe the solution simply doesn't work, I didn't check yet.

No Mount from other VU boxes and NAS still don't work
Have reflashed all my VU+ boxes today
