Hello community. My name is Mike. I have a DM800 and owned a VU SOLO SE. Image on both is OpenPLI (last available version). On DM800 streaming (8001) and recording works fine. On VU SOLO SE streaming to PC (VLC) and recording to usb doesn't work. Exploring usb-hdd shows 4 files fpor each record: .eit .ts .ts.cuts .ts.meta .ts and .cuts are alway size 0. Any solutions? Best regards for 2015 Mike

I have bad news. The VU+ Zero and the VU+ SoloSE are sold as "zappers" not as "recorders". It's a taxing thing. The devices are not supposed to be able to record and that's why it doesn't work. Streaming is implemented in a similar fashion to recording and that's why it doesn't work as well.

Hi Erik. Thanks for that information. Indeed, the SoloSE is a very fast and good zapper (thats why I bought this stb). OpenPLI works fine on it and recording and streaming is not that important for me. Topic can be closed Best regards Mike

@Erik: Are you really sure about this? It seems other images (Blackhole) record and stream correctly on these boxes.

https://github.com/o...p/vuplus-pau.bb seems to be the missing link for recording & streaming. Seems a bit silly for an(y) E2 box not to support recording & streaming.

Interesting. It's a closed source binary. But what does it do?

edit: By checking the binary, it seems there is crypto code in it (md5, aes etc)

Maybe the recording is somehow encrypted? WTF is that?

It is also supposed to be part of https://github.com/j...pli-meta-vuplus , although I didn't check that.

Yes, I am sure about this. These receivers are not supposed to be able to make records (first hand information). But you never know if there might be a workaround.

Hi.

@malakudi: You're right - vti streems and records. Using OpenPLI the ts-streem is empty.

@Erik: You're right, too - VENDOR says recording and streeming is neither advertised nor supported.

It seems that need some investigation.

By the way: Do somebody know  which option (MACHINE=) has to be used in the toolchain from openvuplus

for the solo se?

Best regards

Mike

We do know that; just look a few posts up :)

It is all to keep the custom duties low (I think, 0% vs 14% importduties from Korea, tariccode 8528 71 15 (?))

But the question remains: what does the binary only "pau" actually do? Does it "unlock" something in the driver? This is quite ridiculous.

btw I tested it in my VU+ Zero and seems to work.

Most probably drivers have a check...

if pau then enable_pvr
else disable_pvr

It would be easy to have a kernel module param to enable pvr rather having blobs doing almost nothing..

Hi.

After doing some investigations:

soc supports streaming an recording, but

...snip original manual:

(G) Optional features

PVR function in Vu+ Solo SE is optional feature that needs ZPU license. PVR function includes ;
• Time-shifting
• Recording
• Play recorded contents

...snip

Well, possible that's the reason for the encrypted file.

Best regards

Mike

@malakudi: tested pau in my solo se - doesn't work:

: not found 1: ELF

./pau: line 2: syntax error: unexpected word (expecting ")")

possible B64 encrypted

Best regards

Mike
