I have two ET10000 boxes in different locations. Both are connected to the network using the Gigabit Ethernet VLAN port (eth1).
On both boxes the interface is continuously flapping. It happens about every 10 minutes. Within one day the dmesg log is full with those messages:
root@et10000:~# dmesg bcmgenet bcmgenet.1 eth1: link up, 1000 Mbps, full duplex bcmgenet bcmgenet.1 eth1: link down bcmgenet bcmgenet.1 eth1: link up, 1000 Mbps, full duplex bcmgenet bcmgenet.1 eth1: link down bcmgenet bcmgenet.1 eth1: link up, 1000 Mbps, full duplex bcmgenet bcmgenet.1 eth1: link down bcmgenet bcmgenet.1 eth1: link up, 1000 Mbps, full duplex bcmgenet bcmgenet.1 eth1: link down bcmgenet bcmgenet.1 eth1: link up, 1000 Mbps, full duplex bcmgenet bcmgenet.1 eth1: link down bcmgenet bcmgenet.1 eth1: link up, 1000 Mbps, full duplex bcmgenet bcmgenet.1 eth1: link down
When playing content from the network I have hickups and interruptions whenever the interface is flapping.
I already discovered the problem when I bought my first ET10000 in June 2014.
Now that I have a second one I'm pretty sure it's not related to the cabling or the switch I'm using.
I have tried switches from Cisco, D-Link and a Linksys router. Even when connecting directly to a port on my Cisco router the interface is still flapping.
It even doesn't matter when is set speed and duplex manually to 1000/full. I also tried different straight and crossover cables.
When using the Fast Ethernet port (eth0) everything is ok.
Anyone else experiencing this problem?
