STB - ET9200

Image: OpenPLI4

I want to add a DVB-C tuner to my STB.

I installed HMP-Combo DVB-C/DVB-T USB tuner and it is not recognized by ET-9200 or TVHeadend in my HTPC.  << worked fine in Windows HTPC

Has anyone successfully used a DVB-C USB tuner with OpenPLI on ET-9200 RECENTLY ??

I'm not sure if I would be better off using USB tuner or just biting the bullet and buying Digital Devices PCI-E DVB-C card.  << expensive.

I have a Digital Devices PCI-E DVB-S2 card and it works perfectly(out of the box) in my HTPC...very quick channel changing times(zapping)

Thanks for any help.

I guess you can find some information here: http://www.linuxtv.o...B-C_USB_Devices

Although the best option is to buy dvb-c pluggable tuner if your receiver supports it.

DVBSky T330 DVB-T2/T/C USB Stick??
http://www.dvbsky.ne...ducts_T330.html

According to http://www.linuxtv.o...VStick_CT2-4400 it requires 3.17 kernel for v1 and 3.19 for v2.

Ccombined DVB-C, DVB-T and DVB-T2 USB 2.0 device from TechnoTrend. There are two different versions of the tuner. Version 1 is supported since kernel 3.17. Version 2 requires a small patch, which will probably be included in 3.19. The patch for 4400v2 is in media_tree and can be built using media_build for older kernels.
DVBSky T330 appears to be the same device with different USB ID.
So I guess someone must backport driver to older kernels (not an easy task...) with few words this stick is not supported.

PS. It might be possible to supported with OE-A media_build ... https://github.com/o...ia-tree-dvb-sky

Proven model is the pluggable (internal) tuner as athoik says. We can't give any guarantee on USB tuners.

Hi,

I use Sundtek on my ET-9000 in DVB-C without problem. The only thing that can happens when doing online update are:

- OpenPLi reset the selection from DVB-C to DVB-T so you need to reconfigure it

- The driver needs sometimes to be reinstalled but you can use the Plugin from Sundtek available in the OpenPLi feed to do this (quite easy).

But I agree with Erik if you need to use a DVB-C or DVB-T try to purchase an STB with modular tuner so you don't have to care about kernel/driver... since it is the manufacturer that needs to support its own tuner.

OP uses ET9200, and ET9200 doesn't have pluggable tuners. So his only option is a USB one (or get a new box).

Old topic but FYI:
I have the HMP-Combo DVBT2/C Hybrid USB tuner working with OpenPLi 7.2 on a Mutant HD2400 with the dvb-usb-opticombo (2.1-rp.1) drivers.
