Hi
I have been using the image OpenPli 3.0 for a year now in a genuine DM500HD and found it very stable.
I would like to change to OpenPli 4.0 but not sure if my box will run it.
The information from my box is Enigma 2013-07-29.
If this is Enigma only, is it possible to upgrade it to Enigma2?
Or will OpenPli 4.0 work OK on Enigma?

You're mixing a few terms here.
OpenPLi is the name of the image, which consistent of two main components: the linux OS (based on OpenEmbedded) and the DVB application (called Enigma). All boxes use Enigma2 these days, only the very old ones (like the DM7000 and the dm500) run Enigma (also called Enigma1 now).
So OpenPLi 3 and OpenPLi 4 both run Enigma2, and available for the DM500HD. Since I don't own one, I can't comment on how well it runs...

I have just opened my DCCE2 and noticed in Protocol statements: Enigma2 detected (DM500)
Now keen to hear any comments from DM500HD owners using OpenPli 4.0

Have owned and patched a DM500HD for a year... Box runs well on OpenPli 4.0 (as one would expect). Problem is it's very tiny memory, You can install OpenPli 4.0 without any problems, but you will have a hard time installing the nice extra's like Picons, few necessary plugins, channel list etc. For this reason I have modified my DM500HD to have 2 USB ports. One internally and one externally. The internal USB port had a small USB stick attached to it. Used the FlashExpander tool to increase the 'usr/var' memory leaving ample room to install my wanted stuff...
Please be aware that the 'old' V1 of the DM500HD is no longer produced (this one is capable of running OpenPli 4.0), the newer V2 has a larger memory and is *not* supported by OpenPli however... If you don't know which one you have:
DM500HD V1 (production date up to 17-7-2013) has bootloader #84
DM500HD V2 (production date > 2-8-2013) has bootloader #88

I own a DM500HD V1 original box.
I have now changed the image from OpenPli 3.0 to 4.0
Now busy scanning all the satellites! from 45'E to 45'W !
