lg

Smells like a 3rd-party package with the wrong arch.

Sorry to say it this way, i tried to copy manuel, install second stage bootloader, used every force-dependens, tryed several tools (flashexpander, flooder, openmultiboottoo, mmultiboottoool,....) but u know what the problem is definitly in the source of openpli, i don't know what it is and i'm a little bit sick of flashing about 200 times in 2 month so all is working on a regular base (no problem for me but for my parents and so on...), why is it so hard for only openpli to fix those things? openatv fix within 1 day, upgrade done. Same problem was with mediaportal months ago.

Realy if openplit wouldn't had this great skin i would already have left. This is too much buggy

I love the skin too ... and the small Image of PLi.

I hope it is possible to find a way.

ok i have done a workaroung by doing this:

mv /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions /media/usb
mv /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages /media/usb
ln -sfn /media/usb/Extensions /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions
ln -sfn /media/usb/site-packages /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages
init 3

seems like it should be possible to install plugins now without feer to run out of space, but I realy can't understand why there is no flash expander at all. If i'm able to get some code, i maybe will develope a tool by myself, but i never have done this before so don't expect it and also there is nobody who tells me how it works.

OpenPLi stopped supporting Dreamboxes so now most Flashexpansion and Multiboot tools stopped supprting OpenPLI - it is as simple as that.

Meaning: "developers of these plugins are paid by DMM in an attempt to force everyone to buy DMM, by actively blocking the use of alternative images, and frustrating the users wanting to use those images".

gutemine is such a developer.

solution: "nobody should be so stupid to buy DMM hardware, forced by people like gutemine. You can buy better hardware for a lower price with better image support".

This is "mud-slinging"! Pli and later OpenPli were boosting the sale of Dreamboxes themselves by making Pli images especially for the Dreambox family. Good for Pli's name and Dreambox alike. Dreambox had no competition so no problem. Now 10 years later the Linux Enigma2 STB are sold by almost any brand and OpenPli was quick to adopt their images. Boxes were much much cheaper and the added fact that Dream Multimedia started to use Closed Source firmware forced OpenPli to abandon the Dreambox STB's. In fact they were forced to do so because of the lack of new drivers.. So the once mainstay of OpenPli has now become the paria of OpenPli... Very sad indeed....

OpenPLi (OE + Enigma) != DMM (or VU+, or...). This means that in order to remain compatible with the closed source drivers of these manufacturers, we need to be able to see their source code, so we can reverse engineer and adapt our image for these drivers through the box' BSP layer.

Because DMM has decided no longer to support open source, and has gone closed source for their own image, this is no longer possible. OpenPLi therefore HAD NO CHOICE but to drop support for DMM hardware. You can not compare OpenPLi with DMM clone images (like the gemini's of old).

If DMM wants OpenPLi to support their hardware, we need that access, or alternatively that DMM maintains the BSP themselfs (like VU and Xtrend also do). We don't have a problem with that, by all means, have them contact us with their proposal.

I personal really dont care who is paying who. But I know one thing for sure this guy isnt using his coding talents in a right way.

Everything he produces is timebombed or contains sneaky hidden payload code: sooner or later you will regret but most dumb users will never know!

If you take the effort to research him like I did you will find several sites that are warning not to use the fruits of his bad attitude.

So I hope anyone reading this will pass the warning on. Stop using his code, the dark side of it isnt worth risking the usefull part.

If you stumble upon him in forums or whatever reply that his code and attitude stinks and you got this warning from "TheParasol"

Dont mention openpli since I'm just a fellow forum member like most here.

Yeah, keep on smiling, I dont have to ask what you did this Saturday, for sure you didn't visit your old granny or went fishing with some friends...

What happened: your socks are blown off or did you get bored again?

Thats right back to topic.

I know that it's annoying but i'm sure there is a devolper at openpli team that can implement a flash expander or something like that? shouldn't this be only a script which is doing some flash and expanding or moving the flash on the stick?

I already tried this guide http://wiki.openpli.org/DM800USBBoot but as nfidump isn't working anymore (or seems to) i end up at the step USB Population. May if somebody tell me how to go on, i will implement something for openpli :) my coding skills are not the best, and i never developed something for dreambox. But i will try and have the love to do it :)

The only thing i'm a bitte sad about is, that u all so great developers and u loosing or better said u don't use your full power by only developing for a selcted group. I'm sure you could boost those boxes so great but it's like every linux thing, it's failing on splitting and small differences in meaning by people that can't deal with makeing more compromise.

Replying to an 8 year old topic? If your box has to work with some form of Flash Expander it is time to look for another box that has sufficient RAM/Flash on board. Anno 2023 you can buy a box from €80 which is faster, has sufficient RAM and will do everything your old box can/could…
