Hi, I would like to create a new skin for openpli and enigma2 receivers in general. I can't find any info on how to do it though....

Is there any tool/application that can be used to create it? Or the only way way is to make an empty skin.xml file and start putting things inside? In the skin.xml, how do I know what things are needed and what are not? How do I know the syntax? Reading an existing ski.xml from another skin I can undertand most of the stuff ii contains, but not all. And how do I know what options or posibilities are availiable to use?

Another question I have is about skin resolution. Why most skins around are 1280x720 and not 1920x1080? Is this a limitation of enigma2? Does using a skin of full hd resolution make older/cheaper receiver behave slow?

There is a tool called e2skinner, but as far as I know it's not really up to date, and it doesn't support OpenPLi extensions to the skinning system, such as the special like 'c' and 'e' and templates. But you can try it on OpenPLi's default skin, and see if it can work with that.

The maximum resolution of the skin is dictated by the size of the framebuffer. Not every box has a fullHD framebuffer. So it is a hardware limitation.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Hi, thanks for replying.

e2skinnner as far as I understand is for editing skins, not creating from scratch. And doesn't seem to wok in my pc. It crashes at opening.

Where I can find information about the size of the framebuffer of each box? What framebuffer size is needed for fullhd skins? Is it safe to assume that a box that supports 1080p resolution will support a full hd skin?

Can anyone point me to a working FULL HD resolution skin for Xtrend 4000?

The one I am currently making doesn't seem to work. PLi Full Hd doesn't seem to work either....

WinWizard's response sounds like full hd skins should work with xtrend 4000. This contradicts with ims's response that says full hd skins are not supported by xtrend 4000.

So which statement is correct? Can anyone give me a full list of openpli supported receivers that support 1080p framebuffers (full hd skins)? It would be great if this info is added to the wiki.

P.S. I removed "osd position plugin" from my xtrend 4000, but now I cannot seem to find it in the plugin feed to install it again. Where is it?

No, I was asking what you mean with "doesn't work". What doesn't work?

According to http://wiki.openpli.org/comparison the ET4000 has a full-HD framebuffer. If that is not the case, the wiki page needs to be corrected.

I think, ET4000 is same HW as XP1000. Try set to PLi-FullHD skin and you will see it... (ot try TestsScreens in menu and press 7 )

I know the XP1000 doesn't have a fullHD framebuffer. I don't have my 4K connected at the moment, so I can't test.

Tried the test screens, but I am not sure what I was looking about...

Besides the brightness contrast, color, gamma, etc screens, I saw a 1280x720 screen with 5% and 10% overscan patterns (looks ok), and a screen with a round object with some colors inside which is not displayed completely.

Does this mean that indeed the 4000 doesn't have a full hd frame buffer?

See on screen under button "7" - FullHD monoscope. When you will see cca 2/3 only, then it not supports FullHD skin

Yes, it doesn't show the complete picture, so I suppose that it does not have a full hd frame buffer.

Sure? Then I'll update the wiki page with the correct info.
