I would want to uninstall the plugins, then I do an Autobackup (there are no more the plugins) and flash. There are no plugins and I have to install them ;) .

What are "third party ones" plugins  ?

It's probably a lot quicker to just rename the "autoinstall" file in your backup.

Third party plugins are plugins that are provided to us as an ipk file, a binary. We don't compile them, we don't test them, they are provided as is. And they are usually of questionable quality. But they are in the plugin feed because of user demand.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

You have to be careful. Flashing without plugins is not the same as flashing with a backup and then removing the installed plugins.

Quite a few plugins, especially third party ones or ones that overwrite system files, don't clean up properly when removed.

And many plugins (packages) are not visible in the pluginbrowser and hence not de-installable.

But with Autobackup I haven't to do again all the settings, all the timers (I don't see the TV directly, only records, then I have several dozens of timers).

I've load an old backup and it's quicker. For example, when I get the channel list with the up key, I am in my favourite list and if I want to get all the channels the box have detected, it takes 3 seconds with the last flash and it's immediate with the old version.

You can use a settings restore by autobackup and no plugin restore.

Sorry, I haven't found how to do what you said. There is no parameter in Autobackup to avoid to restore plugins.

Delete or rename the file(s) 'autoinstalxxxx' in the backup folder (or IIRC delete the file '.timestamp').

The PLi-team is actually working on a GUI-option for this.

I rename all the autoinstall files (autoinstall and autoinstall0016b4059fdf) or only autoinstall0016b4059fdf? And if I do that, I only lost the autoinstall of the plugins or I lost also the system parameters, the timers...?

Thank you

Only the plugins ,and when it does go wrong you can always rename them back and do a manual restore through the plugin.

MiLo, Autobackup allows to restore automatically all the previous plugins. Then if there is a problem with one of them, it will download it.

In autobackup, press menu, and there's an option there to remove the auto-install part (which is responsible for re-installing plugins). This will actually simply remove the "autoinstall" file in the backup directory, you can do this by hand too if the box isn't usable. You have to do this before the new flash.

MiLo

suggestion...

Can make settings in plugins SoftwareManager and AutoBackup, not automatically restores settings after flashing a new image?

It's pretty easy to do if you agree.

will be needed to patch:

SoftwareManager

AutoBackup

It's already there, you can disable the automatic restore from within the plugin.

Indeed,but..

For SoftwareManager this option is not.

Yes, I've seen yesterday there are complementary settings with "Menu" key :) .

Ok, I could test if there are other options with "Menu" key. I tried it with other plugins to get more functions but it was not the case. Why these settings are not in the main screen? Is there a problem? If there is, it would be fine to indicate somewhere in the main screen we can use complementary settings with "Menu" key ;) .

Finally, I will do the flash this week-end because I record "Violeta" for my daughter every evening.

And I haven't add a plugin since several months. Thus, one of "my" plugins became "incompatible" with the new Pli?

Thank you :) .

I've pressed "Menu" Key for Autobackup and there were 5 or 6 options. I went on the line "Deactivate autoinstall" or something equivalent but when I flashed, it have downloaded all the plugins. I go again on Autobackup but with the "Menu" key, I have only 3 options.

I tried to deactivate again the auto install on the main screen and I flashed again but it didn't take care and load again the plugins. Then I will try to rename the autoinstall files next time.

Nevertheless, I've seen I have a problem when I download my favourite channels with Dreamboxedit. But with all my tries, I've lost a good file with the favourite channels. I tried to erase all the list but it keeps slow when I press on the red key to have all the channels. I don't know how to reinitialize the channel lists.

Ok, I had to do tries further  .

Another point : when I do a flash, I've seen it didn't take the last favourites channels but an old version. In fact, it seems the favourite are not in the autobackup files but in another file created when we use the plugin "software manager" (or something equivalent, I haven't searched the exact English name) and when we choose the "Backup system parameters" option.

:)
