Please tell me if I'm chasing my tail (going around in circles).

I've been trying to stream from my XP1000 the same way as I can on my DM500 (boxip:31344), where I can change channel on the box via remote without stoping the stream.

Is this possible?

This is the closest thread I could find (2008)

isn´t your xp1000 a single tuner?

the stream occupies the tuner, you need 2 tuners to zap to another channel. ;)

You can stream/record or watch any channel on a single tuner device as long as the channels are all on the same transponder.

But if you enable on the webif "Zap before stream" the box will zap to the channel to be streamed every time you start to stream, so I think you have to disable it to get rid of your grieve.

Thanks all. I don't have any problem sreaming from either box. So let me rephrase.

I can watch ithe DM500 from both the PC "http://192.168.0.5:31344 inside a DM500.m3u file on my desktop"

and on the XP1000 "http%3A//192.168.0.5%3A31344 as a stream entry on my channe list".

If I use the remote control on the DM500 to change channel even while streaming, the channel changes and so do both streams (small delay).

When trying to watch the stream from the XP1000 on my PC (Win8.1-64),

I have to first stop the stream, either by closing vlc or using web-if to zap, which is pretty tedious (Open browser, open web-if, find channel in bouquet, zap wait for zap then activate stream) when I only want to watch what is currently being watch locally on the box.

I can make a m3u file for each specific channel, but it wont zap, It will run vlc if the box is allready on that channel.

Basically I don't need control of the stb (XP1000) just watch what is currently being tuned/played on it.

thanks Colin

Malakudi has the right answer. This way of streaming is not available on enigma2.

Having said that, it would be an extremely handy feature to have.

On E1 we relied on this feature in the WebIf where we had an embedded VLC player, and you could zap using HTML controls without having to restart a VLC session (courtesy of Lite I believe).

It is indeed a feature greatly missed, especially in combination with transcoding. It would mean no more app is needed, you can just have a web interface again...

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

actually, streaming without restarting vlc session is possible now,
- first you need to get the m3u play list for given bouquet (by clicking on the tv icon next to bouquet name),
- and then you can change streamed service by double click its name in the play list (without stopping current stream or restarting vlc)

unfortunately there are shortcomings in this:
1. when you change the channel through the m3u vlc list, the 'zap before stream' feature is ignored (what makes this a bit useless for single tuner boxes)
2. also this automatically generated list lacks service sid extrainf despite you have option 'add service name to stream information' enabled, what prevents streaming of certain channels (with shared pmt)

@ColinB
you can generate playlist for your bouqet(s), and then you need to modify manually entry for each service, changing the stream address, like in this example:

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:0,TVP 1 HD
-http://192.168.1.2:8001/1:0:1:3ABD:514:13E:820000:0:0:0:

then, if you have 'zap before stream' checkbox ticked, you should be able to zapstream using your vlc playlist...

tip: you can get this desired address by right clicking on a stream icon of given channel and then 'copy link location'
