I have a Yamaha amplifier with 5.1 speaker system connected with my VU+ SOLO2 (openpli 4) via HDMI, my question is how to get a real 5.1 system (AC3 or AAC) Dolby DTS.  Do I make the multi channel downmix On or Off or there is another plugin.

Thanks in advance

If you have enabled downmix, all AC3 will be downmixed to stereo, and you effectively loose all 5.1. So you need to disable downmix.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Hi,

you have to set downmix to off. If you test it make sure that watch a program that has real 5.1 because Dolby Digital can also be mono (1.0) or stereo (2.0). AAC or DD+ is another story as you AVR must support it.

ciao

AC3 is digital, and passed to the amplifier as-is, you can't control the volume on the box.

maybe you can control the volume from the amplifier on the remote control from the box, if the amplifier does HDMI CEC

Hi metoo

What do you meant HDMI CEC, my amplifier is Yamaha AV Receiver HTR-2866 , I hope to find way to avoid a remote of the amplifier and keep only one remote.

Some remote's are programmable, or you buy a programmable one, like for example a logitech Harmony.

If you enable volume key forwarding in the hdmicec menu of the solo2 and enable hdmi control on the yamaha, you should be able to control the volume of your receiver with the volume buttons of the solo2 remote. Another advantage is that the receiver can be placed out of sight.

Set "enabled" to yes and set "forward volume keys" to yes.

You can also set the "put receiver in standby" and "wake up from standby" to yes, but that is not really necessary for the volume key forwarding.

If you press a volume key while the receiver is off, it will be detected and will switch of the volume forwarding for as long as enigma runs. After you toggle the "forward volume keys" setting, it will try again to forward the volume keys.
