I think crossepg is a crazy plugin that it's is working when it wants, the next time i will trash it.

But what plugin to choose for epg updating, i see epgimport with his poor option, i don't know if it's better than crossepg

After testing several versions, destroying my image (OpenPLi), reflashing I think the attached version will work.

It is essentially the version published here: https://github.com/oe-alliance

I think we should start from a common source of crossepg, cause it seems the main problem here. I use crossepg source of oe-alliance which seems perfectly working. I adapted source for compile into openpli and added some futil features i needed. I put here this 0.8.1 version, updated today to the latest oe-alliance commits. Again: i use it on vuduo2 openpli4 without any problem, so i propose it to you.

Attached File  enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-crossepg_0.8.1+git462+bd0c620-r3_mips32el.ipk   652.91KB   269 downloads

little changes vs oe-alliance version:

- auto download: chance to program the download every x days, or weekly

- view log screen to check what and why

- info on next download in database info screen

- button clean to delete crossepg related files (starts script /usr/bin/clean_epg, to provide yourself, to do the clean job)

all credits to original author and to oe-alliance. obviuosly, if of interest sources are available.

Actually, that's the one and only thing we'd be interested in.

Just provide a patch or pull request for the version currently on github, that would solve it.

@MiLo:

In the Github https://github.com/o...plugin-CrossEPG you can download the zip file.

In these zip file you will find files named:  Makefile and make_e2_oe1.6.sh.  Are these what you are looking for?

I have got them out of the Github and attached them here -  Zipped

https://github.com/E...plugin-CrossEPG

and

https://github.com/o...plugin-CrossEPG

may be that is the confusion !

Exactly.

https://github.com/E...plugin-CrossEPG does not work properly.

The other does.

That is the problem when people fork instead of maintain the original.

It is always disappointing to see how few people are willing to help maintaining code (originally) made by others in a true open source way, in most cases ego gets in the way...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

I am not a programmer (although I can dabble around).  And normally I do not use Crossepg (see my feelings about it in the FAQ's).

But there where so may many complaints about it, I started to investigate.  In the process I even destroyed the image on my box.

I found out that the only one that worked was the OE-alliance version.  So I proposed to the dev's of OpenPLi to use this version.

It is up to them how they realize this or find an alternative way.

As far as I can see the wrong versions have disappeared from the "store" of OpenPLi.  I am sure it will be replaced one way or another.

In the mean time, in this thread there 2 versions which do work.  One basically the OE-Alliance version and one "enhanced" OE-Alliance version.

in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/CrossEPG/

delete:

crossepg_rytec_update.pyo

and

crossepg_rytec_update.py

UNzip the attached file and copy the pyo file to /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/CrossEPG/

restart enigma

Run Crossepg..  Update the Rytec sources.  You may have to do it twice (I had to)

Willy

works fine for me !!! (cross opg 0.6.2)

thanks

It is always disappointing to see how few people are willing to help maintaining code (originally) made by others in a true open source way, in most cases ego gets in the way...

Most of the time forking is done to fulfil specific requests. In this case one of the original authors of Cross withdrew himself from the E2OpenVersion, as his work wasn't appreciated.

Skipping many of the details: the, as you call it, resulting ego-clash between PLi and others was the main reason the original version was not being maintained any more.

And I have suggested many times before to PLi to use the well maintained OE-version, but apparently ego stood in the way of that.

I do not intend to start any 'war on words'; I only suggest you (again) to use the best version available.

BTW: When was the last time PLi-members updated the original e2-plugins (http://sourceforge.n...ci/master/tree/ )?
