So on these occasions when the changes are so large that the online update is unable to bring a users image to the state of the latest daily released beta,why not place a warning telling users that for this update using the online update will not work and a reflash is required.
A user can then decide if he indeed wishes to reflash,or just continue using his existing image,knowing full well that its slowly becoming outdated and obsolete.
In others words,the user can reflash at his leisure,as he wont be left with a broken image and be forced to do it immediately,which is what occurs now when the online update fails in its task.
