Hi,

 

I got a VU+ SOLO (old model) that won't startup anymore. 

The same happened to my DUO a few years ago, in this box I replaced the well-known C807 capacitor, U801 chip and it worked again.

 

Does someone know which components to be replaced in an old type VU+ Solo?

Are you sure you have an original VU+ Solo? You need to flash the last bootloader. Depending which image you used before it is likely that you have to update the bootloader which makes it possible to load larger images.
I recently had to flash a Solo too and experienced huge problems. This appeared to be a clone which is very hard to see IMHO. ;)
Then I flashed a 'based on Openpli' image and it worked great.

Mijn schotel is een T90 met 10 LNB's. Daarnaast voor de fun nog een draaibaar systeem met een Triax TD 78.

Dreamboxen heb ik niet meer echt actief. Verder heb ik ook nog een een VU+ duo2 met 500Gb harddisk + een VU+ Uno, Zero, Solo 4K, Ultimo 4K, Zero 4K, Uno 4Kse. + ook nog een Xtrend ET7x00. Daarnaast heb ik ook nog diverse andere modellen w.o. een Formuler F4, ET8500, ET7500, Mut@nt 2400HD, Xsarius Fusion HD se en verder nog wel het e.e.a. waarmee op verzoek vanalles wordt getest. Iemand moet het tenslotte doen. ;) :)
Los van de eerder genoemde modellen heb ik nog wel een rits aan testsamples als Mut@nt 2400HD, HD60, GB UE4K, GB Trio4K, Maxitec Multibox combo en Twin, Octagon sf8008, sf8008 mini en last but nog least enkele modellen van het Grieks Duitse Edision.

Voor centrale opslag van media gebruik ik een Qnap 219P met tweemaal 2 Tb harddisks + een Synology DS414 met 12 Tb Totale opslag.

It's an original Solo.

Problem is that the red led lightens-up while powering up the box, but nothing els works. It flashes on using the remote though...

 

I think al already see the problem: capacitors C13 and C14 (10V 1500uF) on the power circuitboard are blown. This solo actually never powers down and is on std-by all the time.

 

I'll try to replace these by 16V 1500uF at the end of the day, see what happens.

Problem solved.

 

I replaced:

C13, 10V 1500uF -> 16V 1500uF

C14, 10V 1500uF -> 16V 1500uF

and the 25V 680uF -> 25V 680uF inbetween to be sure. (don't recall the component's placenumber. It's already assembled again)

 

Led turns green at boot and there is respons on my screen again :)
