hi !

I have an issue with latest openpli 4.0 on xtrend 4000 with and EDIMAX EW-7811UN WLAN USB Dongle. I cannot connect to my wireless network. I always get the following error in wpa_supplicant:

I tried already the stick on another xtrend 4000 box and there it works fine. Also another dongle (from the other box) doesn't work on the new one.
Any idea what could cause this issue ?

There is a known error with WPA2 in OE, we're waiting for an upstream fix.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Is there an estimate when this will be fixed or is there an alternative (working) image that I can use as on my other receiver openpli 3.0 works just fine with WLAN ?

It's been fixed quite a while ago, it's now waiting for the manufacturers to come with drivers for a new kernel that has the fix or to incorporate the fix into their current kernel. That is where the action should be.

The better alternative would be to use either wired lan or use a wireless bridge, that will always work.

but I already bought the wireless adapter and want to use that one. is it possible to grap the image from a working xtrend and flash it on the new one (both are xtrend 4000) ?

I don't know if copying from one box to the other would/could work. You can change the settings to TKIP only and not AES because this won't work...

is there a plugin / feature in openpli to get a full dump of a box and flash it to another (or to get an older version where wlan did work) ?

You can never take a Linux kernel + drivers (included in the image) and run it on another receiver. Unless, in some rare circumstances, two receivers share the same drivers, e.g. the et7500/et7000.

but I have 2 xtrend 4000 just with 2 different openpli versions (1 has working wifi the other one has the newest non working wifi image). so it should be possible to transport the image from the working xtrend 4000 to the non-working xtrend 4000 ?

It will be probably a bit of a trick to get a 1:1 image from the flash and get that into the other the receiver...
