hi i want to follow this instruction

How To Boot Your DM800 From A USB Stick

http://wiki.openpli.org/DM800USBBoot

and i have unknown 8gb memory stick but i stuck at first screenshot which it says : fdisk

the instruction says:

Note: I downloaded & installed fdisk through OpenPLi's package management (opkg), by default OpenPLi uses sfdisk which I don't like. Feel free to use whatever method you prefer to partition & configure your USB stick.

SO I SEARCHED ALL THE PACKAGE MANAGEMENT BUT I CAN NOT FIND THIS  (FDISK)

I EVEN LOOK AT DOWNLOAD PLUGING MENUE/DRIVERS

IF SOMEONE CAN HELP PLEASE WHEREABOUT IS THIS FDISK IN PACKAGE MANAGEMENT

I don't have an 800 setup at the moment, but I assume it's similaiar to the DM8000's feed, from telnet/ssh:

root@dm8000:~# opkg update

root@dm8000:~# opkg list | grep fdisk

(results in)

Or as as Milo suggested, just use sfdisk. I just prefered fdisk as I had used it for ages... ;)

sdb1 & sdb2 are different partitions on the same usb device.

Looking at your posts, you made sdb1 using the entire drive (default start & end), there's no room left to create sdb2.

I'll attach a couple of nfidumps, hopefully they still work. I guess I should explain, the one that ends in _x64 runs on a 64bit Linux pc, not on a dreambox, not under windows!

I don't recall the remote's use being described anywhere in the setup. The guide was basically a road map for people with a basic knowledge of Linux and their DB to extend it's functionality and/or experiment. I don't mean to sound like an ass, but if someone can, for example, see /dev/sdb1 & /dev/sdb2 and come to the conclusion that represents 2 different drives, they may not have a grasp on the basics that may be required to manually setup the 800 as described in the tutorial.

The nfidump telnet commands are all in the tutorial, I'd suggest copying nfidump to /usr/bin or /usr/sbin, that way it is found in the system PATH. You can copy nfidump anywhere you like, including /tmp, but you'll need to add the path to the nfidump command if it IS NOT in the PATH, something like:

/tmp/nfidump /tmp/openpli-enigma2-2.1-dm800.nfi  /media/hdd/sdb2

Good luck,

Ps. I might've misunderstood. The nfidumps posted above are simple binaries/executables, not plugins or extensions, hence no need for the remote...

Pps. 2 separate usb partitons are required normally for this setup. It would be possible to add a 3rd or more for skins, plugins, etc... , but I don't really see any reason to do so.
