hello.

I own a VU+ Duo for many years running openpli 2.1

I wish to update the firmware to version 4.0 but I am afraid I will be asked to mount the hdd after updating and in order to do that I will have to format the hdd and as a result lose everything I have on the drive (800GB worth of things).

Is the above assumption true or can I update the firmware without losing anything on my hdd? Please advice as I really do not want to risk losing my films.

Please guide me as I haven't tried to update firmware for many years and am really scared not to do anything wrong.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi,

Updating the firmware doesn't format the HDD.

Of course this isn't true.
If it would be, the forum(s) would be exploding with complaints.
