I am trying to use vtunerc on a vu+ solo2 with openpli. Tuner 1 and 2 (internal physicals) are in "not configured" state. Every time I boot the box, I see the third tuner (vtuner) as a switchable DVBS2/DVBC device, selected as DVBC by default. My box is connecting as a DVBS2 client to a DVBS2 server box. (with option vtunerc.mipsel -f s2)

If I switch vtuner as DVBS2, store it, exit the menu, and try to change channel, I get the error "channel not available".

I go back to the tuner settings, DVBS2 is selected yet. If try to I exit (without change anything), I get a message something like "exit without store?", channels in the channel list going grey, and if I go back to the tuner settings, vtuner is selected as DVBC device again! Why? I see vtuner only as a DVBS2 device:

cat /proc/bus/nim_sockets

NIM Socket 0:
        Type: DVB-S2
        Name: BCM7356 DVB-S2 NIM (internal)
        Frontend_Device: 0
NIM Socket 1:
        Type: DVB-S2
        Name: BCM7356 DVB-S2 NIM (internal)
        Frontend_Device: 1

NIM Socket 2:
        Type: DVB-S2
        Name: vTuner
        Frontend_Device: 2

If I play with stop enigma (init 2), start again (init 3), store vtuner again as DVBS2 many times, sometimes there will be a vtuner option "expert" also at DVBC selection, and if I after that select and store DVBS2 mode, vtuner start to work and I get picture. At the next boot, vtuner is on DVBC mode again.

Please help!

Why are you using vtuner in the first place?

There is no satellite reception available near the box.

There are plenty ways to get reception over ethernet/ip, vtuner is probably the worst alternative.

The problem is not sending stream over IP to the box in any way, I want to use remote tuner because I need this solution to solve my problem.

If I am using vtunerc on my old dm800 with gemini5.1 the problem is not there (with the same binary of vtuner client). It works great, the only problem is hardware is slow because the slow processor, and a bit more slower with vtunerc.

The problem is the displayed DVBC option at the tuner settings. This option is not displayed on the dm800, so image detect vtuner as a hybrid tuner, and/or can't store it as DVBS2 tuner.

Yes I am using this binary.

No matter what tuner type was choosen on the client side (by -f option), Pli shows vtuner always as DVBS2/DVBC hybrid tuner

Connection works with -s -S -s2 option, I get "no idle device found" at server side with -S2 (and with -c -t) option.

remotestreamconverter is half a soution,  because I can (could) watch the channels form the other box, but it is not a tuner. I cannot scan ex. with this soultion. The bigger problem I get always "No data on transponder/PAT timeout", however I can see, and select the bouquets downloaded from the server box.

Hi,

Which STB do you have? Create the OpenPLi build environment en build your own executable of vtunerc based on this and it should work, but you will perhaps need to check out an older version of vtuner depending on the DVBAPI version of the kernel of your STB.

Be carefull that if kernel version of your box changes you will need to rebuild vtuner.
