I have no experience with creating ipk's, but I have plenty with creating rpm's. And I assume you ipk's also have a spec file in which you can define dependencies.

 

So if you define your ipk to have a dependency to python-html, opkg will automatically install that when your ipk is installed. If it is not installed yet.

I'm talking to you, since you bring it up. If you're not the author of the package (i.e. the creator of the ipk), pass the remark along.

 

If the IPTVPlayer package has a dependency on pyhton-html, the ipk control file needs to specify that dependency.

I tried finding it anywhere. If it existed, I think there is a chance I would have found it.

 

As things stand, it seems one would need to create it...

I wrote it many times, I will not prepare ipk packages, there is so many E2 distributions with in many version, so I will not have time to doing anything else.

And for example how can I test ipk for VU for specific E2 distribution without VU?

Please think.

 

IPTVPlayer will work on any E2 distribution. The only thing you must do is installing missing python modules in correct version.

 

actually, when you have the ipk with all needed dependencies declared, it is pretty much 'e2 distribution' independent,

additional packages would be installed from given user's own feed during installation automatically

 

(and when instead user needs to find/install necessary packages on his own, it may cause more problems...)

 

 

I do not agree with you. 

Two things:

- the old version of E2 distribution do not have active feed but plugin can still work on them

- the package name valid one one distribution can be invalid in other

 

If you have time and knowlage about ipk please prepare valid one and share it here, please.

I think that your problem is:

I am testing a new Mnigma, based on OpenPLi.

 

 

based on OpenPLi is not OpenPLi!

 

You can not be sure that everything is ok with python in this image, and that the feed has all the necessary packages.
I have noticed that some python packages in OE different from openpli, but it looks that your problem is in the image.

It could be. We shall see. I am now installing the original OpenPLi for XP1000 (which is why I can't respond to SSS's question). Stay tuned...

FWIW,

tested on OpenPLi, probably should work on most current/modern e2 distributions...

OK, OpenPLi from scratch: OpenPLi-4.0-beta-xp1000-20151201_usb.zip > noforce renamed to force but it doesn't work, one must mess with the front buttons of the STB...

 

WLAN stick is fine, seen, the driver installed, all cool...

 

Network:

-CIFS shared folders are not seen when one chooses a laptop with Winblows... (it does not "open" but collapses back to the general list of networked devices, Expert does not cover CIFS); manually added a CIFS shared folder - not working (kernel module for CIFS missing?)

 

-NFS ones are - Synology NAS easily mounts...

 

-install ffmpeg:

Why you did not call this cmd and give the output??

I will, in a minute - I was doing it the same way, as for the other E2, to avoid any "misunderstandings"... i.e. to minimise "it's the other E2's fault"...

OK, removed IPTV Player folder and rebooted, then installed the ipk > there was no trace of IPTV Player in Plugins (FTP also!) and not even the message that something was not available due to missing modules... Nothing whatsoever!

 

So, now:

Funny, last night I tried installing the html package the same way and it did not work... hmpf... There might be the difference: that feed might not have had the full html package...??? Must ask...

 

Question: during installation of additional packages, it still uses some gstreamer 0.1 packages (fluendo mpegdemux) - is that OK?

 

Anyway, I OK'ed everything and now it is working!

 

ExtPlayer 3 (with or without buffering/low) would not work on FilmOn - no space on /hdd, it said...

 

I must mount my USB stick and HDD properly...

So, this seems that you have gstreamer 0.x in your image.

Please check this with this two cmds:

gst-launch-1.0 --gst-version
gst-launch --gst-version

And give the output.

No this is not OK. Are you sure that you set with no buffering player under blue button?

Device Manager PLi 3.0 - cannot install...

 

System plugins > Mount Manager > OK. But not good, really...

 

Indeed, Gstreamer is 0.10.36 (GIT).

 

Python 2.7.3.

 

Mounted USB stick (for buffering) and HDD (recording).

 

Still, no juice with ExtPlayer3 for FilmOn/BBC1! Kicked out immediately, in 'no buffering/low mode'.

 

With buffering/low > buffering does start now (but seriously slow - possibly because of the WLAN stick or the internet or maybe old STB?) > no juice! Restarts buffering and endlessly like that! I never see the colours, sadly...

 

Resetting my modem (just in case) > re-try... no luck! Still excruciatingly slow...

 

Gstreamer player without buff/low > it works!

 

So, it seems it's down to ExtPlayer/ffmpeg?

 

Edit: I wanna give you the telnet output but I need proper, full commands, please...

OpenPLi team: I can't get DVD Menu to work (song selection or subtitles settings, for instance). Just 'play' works and if you choose to continue from a previous point where you exited/stopped. And sometimes not even that. It takes forever to get it to go... when it does go....

 

Initially, I thought there was no DVD Player installed, so I installed it from the feeds (2.7, I think) but that behaved the same way...

 

Any remedy, please, if it is not down to my machine/WLAN/who knows what?

Playback over home network (quick test)

 

ExtPlayer 3 no buffering

from laptop (CIFS) - nothing worked!

from NAS (NFS) - no luck

It is kicked out instantaneously, as one tries...

 

Gstreamer Player no buffering

It works, by and large, whatever I tried.

But limitations are down to WLAN stick, I presume. I have to try using a LAN cable and see....

WebSTream > XBMC mxtv > eplayer3 (no buff) > Arena Sport 1 > OK

 

Supersports > kicked out immediately

 

Sky Sports > no luck, kicked out immediately and so did every other channel after this...

 

Greek IPTV > nope...

 

At this point I changed to GST Player (no buffering) > it worked!!!

 

Anyways, lots of hits and misses...

 

It's getting better and better!
