Here is a little compilation, trying to help newbies... SSS, is this info correct?
What to do to get the most of your STB's IPTV capacity
1) How to install ffmpeg - for both SH4 and MIPSEL platforms
SH4 (STi 7111/7162 processors, i.e. Alien 1/2, for instance) commands in Telnet:
cd /tmp
wget http://iptvplayer.pl/resources/openatv5_sh4_ffmpeg_2.7.1.tar.gz
tar -C / -xvf openatv5_sh4_ffmpeg_2.7.1.tar.gz
rm openatv5_sh4_ffmpeg_2.7.1.tar.gz
sync
reboot
MIPSEL platform, mostly Broadcom processors (most of our STBs)cd /tmp
wget http://iptvplayer.pl/resources/ffmpeg2.8.1_mipsel_nofpu.tar.gz
tar -xzf ffmpeg2.8.1_mipsel_nofpu.tar.gz -C /
rm ffmpeg2.8.1_mipsel_nofpu.tar.gz
sync
reboot
=====to check the ffmpeg version in your STB=====
ffmpeg --version
Now, you will be able to install External Player 3, which uses considerably less resources!
SamSamSam says:
"Please do not use standard player, standard and internal players based on E2 and I can not fix E2 player.
Please use external gstplayer (or external eplayer3 if you have box with SH4 CPU) in buffering mode.
You can change player under blue button."
So, now:
2) Install IPTV Player plugin via Telnet commands (if you do not have it in your image's feeds (Plugins > Download plugins > Extensions)
rm -rf /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/IPTVPlayer
cd /tmp
wget http://iptvplayer.vline.pl/download/update/latest.pythonX.X.tar.gz
tar -xzf latest.pythonX.X.tar.gz -C /tmp
rm latest.pythonX.X.tar.gz
cp -r iptvplayer-for-e2.git/IPTVPlayer /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/IPTVPlayer
rm -rf iptvplayer-for-e2.git/IPTVPlayer
sync
reboot
3)
When you start the plugin (IPTV Player) you will need to continue with some additional installations
Keep:
-confirming all the suggestions, during the installation, which will also guide you to -installing the External Player 3 or External Gstplayer (once the installation finds ffmpeg in your Enigma2) and then
-update the plugin; after that
-configure it carefully (where to send buffering or where to record, how to deal with External Player 3 - render AAC sound via SW etc.).
4) Before choosing an IPTV channel (say, in Web Stream > FilmOn > BBC1, for instance) or what to playback over home network (Media section), one can
choose the preferred player, using the blue button menu! With or without buffering etc.
5)
For developers, to include the latest in your images
Repo:
https://gitlab.com/i...tvplayer-for-e2
Last version with source code:
http://iptvplayer.vl...ythonX.X.tar.gz
6) Known issues, as of right now
SH4 version is more advanced and covers more codecs! However, fewer codecs are supported by Mipsel version of ffmpeg/ExtPlayer 3, when IPTV Player v. 82.01.01.00 was published (these may change over time, of course!):
- AAC
- AC3
- MP3
- MPEG
- MPEG2
- H264
Good luck!
