Hello,

I've read the forum and the FAQs, and I didn't find an exact answer to my problem.

Since I updated PLi to v4.0, my VU+ Duo has stopped auto-updating its EPG using the Rytec EPG updater. Instead, I have to use the manual updater each time. THis occurs about every 3-4 weeks, adn the cycle repeats itself.

I read on the FAQ that sometimes the updater doesn't work when coming out of deep standby. I'm not sure what deep standby means. In my case, the receiver starts up in about 3 seconds after pressing the power-on button on the remote control.

I've attached some screenshots showing the empty EPG, the EPG updater plugin configuration, and the rytec channel selection.

Many thanks,

Paul

I have same issue. I think it has to do with memory, because my et8000 with same config works fine.
I have no solution.

Vu+ Ultimo 4K (4 TB HD, DVBS FSB, DVBC FBC & OpenPli 9),

Xtrend ET10000 (1 DVBS works via ethernet & OpenPli 9),

Xtrend ET10000 (DVBT2 & OpenPli 9, located in Thailand). Only latest stable releases.

Xtrend ET10000 (works via ethernet & OpenPli 9) and

Xtrend ET8000 (1 TB HD, 1 DVBT2 & works via ethernet & OpenPli 9)

Deep standby == Off. When you use the on/off button of the remote, in general you set the box in standby (which essentially is the same as on, but with the video out and LNB power switched off).

The VU Duo should have enough memory to hold the benelux and UK EPG, that's on average about 18Mb.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

The problem is the moment the internal clock is properly set.

In these boxes, the time is set after tuning to a channel, the time is read from the transponder ande the internal clock of the reciever is set.

This results in the fact that the receiver only knows the correct time after tuning.

This can be a problem, if a program is setting a schedule before the correct time is known.  XMLTimport (EPGimport) is one of these programs.

The problem is only a few seconds.  But too early is too early.

The solution is set the time of the receiver to a correct time before enigma starts.

This can be done with the command:

ntpdate time.nist.gov

However this has to done before enigma2 is started.

In order to automate this, place the attached file (after unzipping) in the folder /usr/bin/ on your receiver.

Give the file 755 rights (otherwise it won't execute)

If you select this file in autobackup (if you use this) it will be backed up and restored when you have flash your receiver.

Willy

Thanks for all the replies.

I can't try it out mow, my receiver has just broken down, with the "red light at startup syndrome"

I'll post a reply here if I can first fix the problem.

Box working again.

Willy,

I added the file enigma2_pre_start.sh to the directory /usr/bin

I discovered that ntpdate was not installed by default on my system.

I executed the following commands, and it seems to work

    opkg update
    opkg install ntpdate

Many thanks again.

Paul

    opkg update
    opkg install ntpdate

This is possible.

I do not remember, if I had to install it.  But this perfectly possible.
