Hello,

I need your help to solve the problem.

I am used to copy(ftp) TS HD(H264) files to my PC for authoring, storage, etc.....

I have neither had any problem so far, excepted since upgrade from W8.1 PRO 64 to W10 PRO 64.

The issue: when aptempting to access to those TS files(right click for instance), the PC goes mad  with DRAM and Hard drive at 100%.

Sometimes, only way out is to switch it off..

I suspoect something wrong with the défault media player that deals with certain fonctionalities..

Besides, player: VLC, KODI or DVDViewer can access the files for correct Play back if I launch the player then go to the TS file...

I have upgraded first to W10 with the proposed easy way from an existing installation; then, to be 100% sure, with the DVD from scratch on formated hard disk..

Same result..

Is the file transfered as a binary file? Normally it should be detected automatically, but if it doesn't ftp will treat it as text file and do some nasty translation of line-endings the .ts file.

Which ftp client are you using? Binary/ascii/auto should be in every ftp-gui. If you're using the ftp commandline tool, issue the "binary" command before transfer.

Seems I jumped to this conclusion too early.

If other players work correctly, then the blame goes to the default media player, which is most problaby the windows media player. You are problably missing the right codec.

M$ has discontinued Media Center with Windows 10. You can buy the M$ DVD player app from the Windows Store for $15.

Most do advise:

To use VLC Instead, download the PC version of VLC (not the Windows Store app version). The software plays DVDs and plenty of other file formats, too.

OK, thanks, but the issue is more serious than playing back the TS file un queestion.

If the default Microsoft Media player has problem, it's the whole computer wich has problem..

For instance, as I said above, as soon as I want to make any action on those files, i.e. authoring with third party sofware, that
won't work; neither put to the basket.

I have asked a relative to make a test on another PC: same issue(TS HD files on USB Hard Disk).. The PC goes mad when trying to make anything with the files in question..

I guess I have detected one serious bug in W10..

Forget the shitty Windows 10 reporting all privacy data to Microsoft. Return to Win8.1. Or better, switch to someting more reasonable, like Ubuntu (try Ubuntu Mate, can be made wit a few clicks to look similar with any Windows: start menu, taskbar etc.)

Not a bug, M$ want $$ and decide what you can can do in their windows, not your windows. If you Want to stay on Windows 10 try one of these depending if you're on 32-bit or 64-bit windows 10.

Load video.

For both Video Output and Audio output use Copy and Output Format: MP4v2 or MKV muxer

Save video

start with a small sample 1' recording.
