Hi *,

I'm using a Xtrend ET10.000 and Xtrend ET9200.

Now my children like to watch TV in their rooms but there are no satellite cables available in their rooms.

So I thought about having a SAT2IP Plugin in Openpli so that e.g. a Panasonic TV as Sat2IP Client could use my Xtrend boxes.

Does such a plugin exist?

If not I think about using a cheap enigma box as partner box.

Or is there a different option to access from a TV vie IP network to a box running openpli?

The access should cover wathcing recorded movies and live TV:

Cheers Peter

You can configure another box as a fallback tuner. I use a VU+ Zero in the bedroom and an XP1000 in my office/work room, both connected via the network to my ET10000 which provides the tuner. There is no tuner active in both for the same reason, no cable.

I think the advantage for the other household members is that the user interface is the same throughout the house.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Sat2ip is something completely different. Streaming is something enigma2 has always been capable of.

thanks for the replies.

The point having the same user interface when using another e2 box is a good one.

My family is familiar with openpli.
The disadvantage is having an extra box which costs extra and consumes power.

Streaming seems not offer the original TV expirience: e.g. zapping the channels with a remote control when using streaming is not possible.
Thats the reason why I was thinking about a plugin which offers a sat2IP server interface. Panasonic TVs seems to be able to consume a sat2ip protocol as client.

If there would exist a plugin for the e2 box to act as a sat2ip server this would be possible.

This page I found usefull for explaining sat2ip: http://www.satip.info/technology-0

But so I will go for an extra box like the VU+ zero or the edision os mini S2 in the bedroom of my children and configure the box as partnerbox.

Hm, I thought it causes no problem to connect an Edision OS mini running OpenATV with a Xtrend 10000 running OpenPLI.

No problem, then I go for the VU+ zero.

SAT>IP is good if you have SAT>IP equipment, if you want to make a tuner server etc. Since you already have enigma2 boxes, the fallback tuner option is the best option for you.

I have committed basic SAT>IP support last week, BUT you really need to be an experienced user to get it working. Also at least on VU+ it doesn't work very well, driver issues.

You're really better off with the usual enigma2-streaming-system. Use either the remote bouquet converter plugin (quite simple to grasp) or the fallback tuner (a little more advanced to setup).

Thanks for adding the support. I updated my ET10000. I'm not an experienced user.
For curiosity: can you give me a starting point to get it working? In "settings" and "update plugins" I found nothing which looked like SAT>IP.

Hi this is not true!

Since you have 2 boxes, disable the tuners on one of your box, and define the fallback tuner in your configuration.

Menu - Setup - System - Customize

Enable fallback receiver remote receiver -> Yes

Fallback remote receiver URL

This is the more painful step type in:  http://ip_of_your_other_box:8001

Now return to your channel list and zap.  :)

With remote fallback you simply copy your channel list so you have the same look&feel on every STB.

To be able to use SAT>IP you need to have your antenna to support it!

So you don't need to use any kind of "remote stream or IPTV converter" use the fallback tuner there is nothing more simple than this.

Thanks for the detailed fallback tuner description. I will go for that solution and buy the extra VU+ zero, using fallback tuner.

It's easy, reliable and proven.

room1                              ||   room2

TV <=> VU+ zero <= streaming=> ET10.000

But my original Idea was to have it without an extra box using the standards a TV supports.
And there are certain Panasonic TVs which support SAT>IP over Ethernet.

room1                             || room2

TV                         <= SAT>IP => ET10.000

Hi Trial,

seems to be a good option.

Meanwhile I made some progress on the sat>ip.

It is not a plugin and not a setting, which can be activated.

You have to download it on the command line:

# opkg install minisat

When started with

# minisatip -f -l

my Sat>ip Software client on the pc immediatly found the SAT>IP server (client software from http://www.satip.info/products/Windows , the compliant one)

It seems that there is a file with a description missing:

[21/11 20:58:57.180287]: read HTTP from 7 sid: -1: GET /desc.xml HTTP/1.0
Host: 192.168.YY.XX:8080
Keep-Alive: 300
Connection: keep-alive
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; Synapse)

[21/11 20:58:57.180287]: reply -> 7 (192.168.XX.VV:8569) CL:0 :
HTTP/1.0 404 Not Found
Date: Sat, Nov 21 19:58:57 2015 GMT
Public: OPTIONS, DESCRIBE, SETUP, PLAY, TEARDOWN

Futhermore depending on the current status of the system the minisatip server can grep physical "frontends" (=tuner) to map his virtual tuner on or not.

But for today I have enough .... and go watching TV ;-)

Does our boxes support "SAT PI" SAT>IP server? Homepage - https://github.com/Barracuda09/SATPI

Somebody can compile a package for MIPS-architecture for testing?

As far as I know, there are no other open-souser SAT>IP servers.

Hardware devices uses proprietary software - http://www.satip.inf.../sat>ip servers

it would be good to use a sat receiver as the SAT>IP server

You should try newer version of minisatip. You can also use to feed to tvheadend.

On client side (can only test with dm800se kernel 3.2) satip-client from OE-Alliance does not work.

On my client side only works with newer kernels (Vu+) and their vtuner interface.
