Im just using internal flash. Not using usb mount. thanks. I have 1gb memory free. All other addons in kodi 15.2 isengrad running ok, except navi-x

@mx3L, are you or anyone else working on a Kodi 16.0 (Jarvis) port to Vu+ Enigma2 based boxes?

 

Kodi 16.0 (Jarvis) will be released any day now and later does supposedly have more portable code and is better optimized for embedded systems.

It would maybe be best to spend time porting the v16 (Jarvis) branch of Kodi instead of the older 15.x versions.

Kodi 17.0 new internal video player (called "VideoPlayer") should probabably be a little easier to port to run nativly Vu+ with hardware acceleration:

Porting and using Kodi's new internal video player nativly on Vu+ will bring the best experince.

 

Alternative could be to update this old "GSTPlayer" video player for XBMC based on GStreamer:

That GStreamer player code ("GSTPlayer") was abandoned but could perhaps be updated for Kodi.

 

Though I believe that Kodi have moved away from seperate players to using "codecs" instead, see:

There are "codecs" for OpenMAX, VAAPI, VDPAU, so you could make a new "codec" for GStreamer.

 

Maybe you could port "GSTPlayer" into "GSTcodec" following the above examples?

Kodi 15.2 update 2:

 

Changes:

 

- enabled audio engine and fixed audio playback, thanks to @darkmantk

 * every audio is now played via Kodi internal player

 * SD video is possible to play fluently via Kodi internal player (audio is delayed, so you need to adjust audio delay)

 

- all vuplus RC buttons are now usable in kodi, thanks to @darkmantk

 * channel+/- is mapped on pageup/pagedown

 * next/prev - is mapped on quick audio switching in playlist

 * menu - is mapped on menu

 * ...

- added fast switching between enigma2 and Kodi via TV button, there is no need to quit kodi in order to switch to enigma2, just press TV button

- added resume support, last position of played media is stored in kodi database, kodi will make suggestion if you want to resume from last position on next playback of the same media.

- "fixed" addon's error "SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED", when python2.7.9+ is in use

- kodi enigma2 player now gets more information about playing item, i.e. it tries to set proper title

@mx3L, if it is to much work to reimplement the above mentioned "GSTPlayer" GStreamer player code in Kodi(?), do you then think that it would instead be possible to pipeline GStreamer hardware accelerated video decoding to native Kodi's internal video player on Vu+ via the VA-API?

 

That is, Kodi's internal video player does have native support for VA-API, and Vu+ supports GStreamer, but Kodi does not have native support for GStreamer (without the above linked "GSTPlayer" player code), so could you with 01org's GStreamer plugins and libraries for hardware accelerated video processing channel GStreamer though the VAAPI if you could build an Vu+ image with VA-API support?

15.2 is latest Kodi version therefore I'm using it, once 16.0 is out I will use that version.

 

Regarding player questions,

I don't know, I have to look at Kodi sources to find out how is video rendering done and if it can be fully replaced, for example by making Kodi UI transparent so we can see video output written to dvb video device.

I'm investigating beacuse the internal player of Kodi works well in formuler 1 box.

 

Seems that formuler 1 uses custom codecs in DVDPlayer.

 

I have found in kodi.bin (formuler1) CDVDAudioCodecStb and other things.

For me it works when:

 

1. play audio with kodi player

2. switch to enigma2

3. switch to kodi

4. resume audio playback

 

Didn't test it if it works also with video playback via kodi player thought.

If it's not working you can remap TV button on something else, so you don't accidentally lose the sound.

 

edit can you test if it works after reverting this one?

I downloaded the .ipk package and investigate files using a hexadecimal program

Other thing.

 

I have running Kodi 15.2 in VU+ Solo 4K, the problem is that internal players not have audio (Problem seems that is by ffmpeg build configuration)
