If box is in standby you can still access webif (not sure whether remote in webif then works, but you can disable standby, make changes and then enable standby again).

But you cannot change something in the menu without showing the menu on the screen.
Well you can change the settings in /etc/enigma2/settings but not when e2 is running as it can overwrite your changes when e2 stops. So you need to stop e2 first and then you can change the settings.

But what do you want to change?

The remote in the webif works fine in standby.

The only possible issue is indeed that Enigma doesn't respond to commands when in standby, so if you want for example to navigate the menu, or to zap to channel, you have to switch the box on first (which you can do with a webif command).

To remotely control the box, this might come in handy: http://radiovibratio...ambox/webif.htm
