On some Polish channels I experience incorrect subtitles display. It is about the second row.

Can you please have a look at the screenshots below?

Is it just me?

Some letters are broken and the top of the letter is moved to the side.

The bottom row should read:

Gra koncert w Waszyngtonie.

and

że tak, tak, tak jest.

Disable centering subtitles. Some estonian channels have the same problem.

Thanks, I will try that tonight.

Could it be that something is wrong with the implementation of "centering"?

DVB subtitles are very difficult to implement correctly, partly because the specification is really hard to understand and implement, partly because they're sent as bitmaps scaled to "some" resolution (which can differ per channel) and including some sort of positioning system. DVB subtitles are never meant to be repositioned anywhere other then at it's original position, so expect problems there. The same goes for scaling (smaller/bigger), it will never work reliably.

This all contrary to teletext subtitles where texts are sent that can be rendered and positioned at will.

Indeed. This seems to have helped. Thanks.

Maybe this should be the default setting then?

I had a similar problem when I was using DVB subtitles on BBC channels, words would get on top of others. Disabling centering fixed that.

Teletext subtitles work better if available.

I don't think centering should be offered to start with, considering the concept of the DVB subtitles, it can't be guaranteed to work correctly. But apparently many people want it nevertheless.

I disabled centering and the subtitles are still centered and, what is more important, they are now displayed correctly but considering the difficult implementation I suggest centering should be off by default if this option is to be kept.

Then they are already positioned in the center by the broadcaster, that is possible.

Broadcaster do not accept zones with this subtitles ... long time i spend with it.

I am using finetunning patch for it , that is possible set line, where are subtitles divided and centered. But this adjustment must be for some brodcaster still changed. Fortunately, some broadcasters accepted zones yet...

I just discovered that most likely DMM did fix this issue

http://git.opendream...b2b97b27c96c983

- fixed 8bpp pixmap handling (fixed digi romania dvb subtitles)

But the fix is included in their closed source c++ stuff..... :(
