Although the thread-title is 'VOD' I think this is about all IPTV (via bouquets)? And there's nothing illegal about that.

Or am I wrong?

 

I know pretty well what I am writing. Original poster mentioned XC plugin. This is a plugin used by illegal pirate-tv servers to offer IPTV and VOD to their customers. It is a plugin for XC (Xtream Codes) iptv panel. This panel also offers to give the VOD links as a bouquet (or multiple bouquets) in enigma2 STBs. Most pirate-tv servers using this also lock the STB from customer so that he can not have access to original streams etc. I say do nothing to support such activities.

The thread has gone broader then the opening post. It's (now) about all IPTV.
So don't forbid selling the hammer because someone abuses it.

Bouquets should have real-time streams (either from SAT, Cable, Terrestrial or IPTV) . I don't really see why an http link with an MKV  or MP4 should be allowed in the bouquet list in the first place and why we should have seeking capability in those streams.

Now, if we talk about real-time streams that have seek capability to go back in time (replay tv functionality), I agree we should support that in a way that is compatible with current timeshift implementation.

Anyway I don't forbid anyone to do anything. It is just my opinion on the original poster issue.

This is not an issue... there isn't an issue anywhere in openpli about vod. We would only add a new feature... then, how you use this new feature, sorry, but i don't think is relevant! I hope you use openpli for ONLY regular subscriptions, but don't think thousands of people use this great image only for this! Following your reasons, we should stop support this image because people can do illegal use of it! This has no sense for me. Obviously, imho.

I have an idea, sure a stupid idea, but i try to explain.

More of you don't want break zapping, and i can agree with this. So my idea is... to enable seek/play/pause etc, why not enter in "stream/vod mode" (or like you want call it) opening a new panel? 

This panel can describe the use of numbers for seek (e.g. 1:-10s, 3:-1m, etc) and show some infos... and in this panel we know cannot using number for zapping. The user will know that for seek/play/pause will have to open this panel (maybe using info button) and for zapping away will have to close it (maybe with "exit" button: exit the panel play automatically the sream)

I would hate exiting from channel list and open a plugin to view a vod. The real advantage of this feature is just this, remain in channel list without use other stuff.

But you are the boss, this is only my opionion.

 

The idea of a new panel, or something like timeshift button to go in seek mode, is not good for you? Why?

I do not see any advantage to put them in a channel list as they are simply no channels and basically they are also not that static as channels... they can change day-by-day...

main purpose of this tread, was that some openpli developer start thinking on implementing this future, like was implemented years a go by blackhole team..

 

the only option is to flash back blackhole image... 

 

it is unbelievable that in 2017 vod streams on openpli4 are still not working.

 

the idea of VOD is that is possible to watch when you wont and from where i wont. on openpli4 image is not possible to fell a asleep during watching, because next time you will have to watch it from start...  c:)))

Why? Press pause and then you can seek in streams (if they support it).

Is that a new feature? well on my remote play/pause (>||) is the same key, that is why I didn´t see it, I´ll try to separate them

I am correcting myself twice, I tried it once again without seek bar plugin, it is working, just press long << or >> and you´ll see the (simplified) seek bar, nice feature, thanks

So i have 7.2pre installed and for play/pause my remote is ok, but for back and rewind whch buttons i must use or i must configure there on setup of customize remote ?

Ok understand like use << >> long...but after put in window eg. 3 5 minutes...only go forward and not back ...is normal ?

Afaik it should work like normal timeshift. Can't test it as I don't have such streams.
