I think vod should not be played over the normal channellist... I think it is better to arrange this with a plugin (or something other special thing in e2)

I think the things should be made esay for end user... this is the power of enigma2!

Thinking.... what "normal channellist" means? Only sat+cable+dvb-t channels? So streaming channells should be handled with a plugin?

More, normal channels can be time-shifted using "normal channellist"... isn't this similar to vod handling (pause/play/forward/rewind)?

Imho it could and should be made in the normal channellist.

It was done before: https://github.com/O...04e385ca392612a

When a stream is entered on bouquets pause/unpause doesn't work because
pause button tries to create timeshift.

Now when time shift fails and service is streamed it will try to pause/unpause
the stream.
But it was causing issues to recordinds: https://github.com/O...b12ea411b44feb0

As it has sideeffects that a started timeshift could not be paused anymore
Most probably as simple check for sref different than 1 or different than file:// would do, but nobody spend time on this.

PS. A workaround was to open help and press button from help screen.

As i understood, but not tried yet, the possibility to play/pause the stream is there yet, using "help" button.

What it misses is the possibility to seek forward/rewind the stream.

First try to imagine what it takes to "wind" in a stream?

Yes, it's all not that simple.

Athoik,

At least we need the pause to enable something like timeshift so that  'step-skip' is enabled... So a stream is 'faking' timeshift enabling the stepskip for a stream... (when it supports it)...

I reverted that already done patch because it broke something else...but it basically means that the previous commit needs to be solved...

I'm afraid this one get somehow forgotten... ;)

I don't complain, "nobody spend time on this" includes myself. ;)

If pressing the buttons from help screen works (pause/play/fast forwrd /etc), then it should work on channel list if the correct event is routed to correct function.

PS. Another issue for github issue list (not to be forgoten again).

Using other keys like << and >> for seeking/jumping is not possible? Why other images like BH and italysat allow it?

->

Because they likely violating the way the UI does work... While zapping numbers should be number zap... You 'block' number zap that way...

<< and >> are the buttons usually around 0 or the media player buttons fast forward and rewind?

Blocking number zap while viewing a vod is not a big deal imho. The big deal is cannot starting the vod from the point i stopped it the day before  :) , you can imagine the frustration!

About buttons, I have suggested to use the buttons of the media player, but any button allowing it is very welcome, included < and > around the 0.

Cannot test it atm, but from help screen is only possible pause and play, not others commands. It would be great allowing them to work using help screen, if in the channellinst is not possible!

->

This is exactly the issue.... The numbers are reserved for numberzap... So you cannot stepskip.... You need to find a way to put them in stepskip mode... Just like it's done with timeshift... So press pause.... This is how the UI is designed...

But still I think it is not smart to play VOD via a channel list... A plugin (or special player) is more suitable for this....

Maybe for services, in which reference is the '://' we can in context menu add the option seek with the numeric keys?
It can be disabled when switching to a different channel or again through context menu.

For normal tv seek starts with timeshift so when making something I suggest the same method as we have for timeshift.

That part is already functioning in E2 if the stream does support it...

Timeshift start with a pause.
If the user want to pause and then continue, then he can not understand why nuber keys no longer change the channel.

I think that context menu has a lot clearly. The user can not turn this mode accidentally.

I agree that the GUI should work in the same way everywhere, but right now, for example, the menu and plugin sort works differently, and you do not worry about it.  ;)

->

You will see the "timeshift info progress stuff" on top of the screen... the same you should do here with the VOD... point where you are in the VOD.

The menu and plugin sort works differently,

->

This is true... but we want to prevent the somehow to relocate menu items with the < > buttons... So you enable it when you set the config + press a 'hidden' blue button...
