Hello

My box is VU+ Uno with a 500GB HDD and my current image is VTI 9.0.2 which provides an EPG Plugin called "EPGImport"

Except for BBC4 HD and Channel4 HD this plugin fails to find any EPG list for the Freesat channels in UK on Astra 28.2

If possible I would like to install the XMLTV Import plugin in the VTI Image

Where would I find the installation / config files?

I have visited the Rytec website and I notice they provide instructions and downloads for Enigma2 boxes

Does OpenPli have a downloadable version of the XMLTV plugin in a repository somewhere?

Can anyone offer any advice about this?

EPGImport and XMLTV Import is the same thing.

Except for some minor technical differences. Which have to do how the sources are updated.

But the user should never see a difference in the day to day operation.

Thanks for your responses. I did suspect they were the same thing under different names.

Is there a reason why they fail to import XMLTV for Astra 28.2 from Rytec UK?

EPGImport logs approx 1200 events from Rytrec UK but these are always listed as "Unknown Channel"

Do you know whether this Is a Rytec issue or does the plugin itself need to be updated?

Regards

Ray

Unknown channels are always present.

These only mean that no data could be linked to a channel on your receiver.  Since in the XMLTV file also exclusive cable channels are present these would be of course unknown on a sat receiver.

If you cannot import data, however something else must be wrong.

Perform an manual import, and after +/- 30 seconds request an import log by pressing the menu, info or epg button - depending on your receiver.

Saves this log, and post the log here.

Secondly can you find out the service ref of BBC One HD.

Open the OpenWebif in your browser.
Open the channel you want the service ref from.  Double click on it.
Now press the Current button
The service ref is given here:  Sref: 1_0_......

Thanks again Willy.

I am a total novice regarding EPGs

For BBC1 HD my Sref: 1_0_19_1B1D_802_2_110000_0_0_0

The following is a shortened version of the EPGImport log today at 13.49 GMT

This was a manual import of Rytec UK XMLTV for UK channels on 28.2E

It only ever produces a service list for BBC4 HD and Channel4 HD - Nothing else

Unknown channel:  BONTV.uk

From the log I need the beginning.

But do not worry about this anymore.  The import plug-in works perfectly.

The problem is with the service refs of the scanned channels.

In order to link the EPG to a certain channel they are defined the rytec.channels.xml file

This contains a list of values like the one below:

<channel id="BBCOneHD.uk">1:0:19:1B1D:802:2:11A0000:0:0:0:</channel> <!-- BBC One HD  -->

Now your service ref of BBC One HD is: 1_0_19_1B1D_802_2_110000_0_0_0

Which is the same as the one in the definition, except for the namespace:  11A0000 vs. 110000

You scanned the sat (or used a settinglist) which is scanned with a wrong satellites.xml file.

This files should reside in /etc/tuxbox (but it can vary on other images)

The list of used frequencies for 28.2E should start with:

<sat name="28.2E Astra 2E/2F/2G" flags="1" position="282">

In your file this will probably be

<sat name="28.2E Astra 2E/2F/2G" flags="1" position="272">

This results in Namespace values in your service references of 1100000 instead of the usual 11A0000 seen when properly scanned.

And of course no EPG is imported because the service references do not match, and you end up with unknown channels

The solution to this:

You can try to correct the satellites.xml file and rescan 28.2E.

Or use a proper settinglist.

Willy

PS:  I have attached my satellites.xml file

Your satellites.xml file could also list this:

<sat name="28.2E Astra 2E/2F/2G" flags="1" position="284">

Which would result in a Namespace:  11C0000

Many thanks for all your help and your satellites.XLM file

I'm beginning to understand the mechanics of this EPG business at last

I will study the data now and hope to get up and running without further ado.

Success!

As you suggested, there was indeed an error in my satellites.XML file

The position value in the sat header for 28.2E was incorrect as follows

<sat flags="1" name="Astra/Eurobird (28.2E)" position="284">

I changed this to "282", re-scanned the whole satellite and ran the EPGImport plugin

I now have a a 7 day EPG listing for approx 15 channels in bouquet

You will have to edit the bouquets as well.  Rplace saome channels with the versions of the channels you just scanned.

Each channel will now have a version on 28.2 and a version of 28.4.  As you will appreciate you have to replace the 28.4 E versions with the 28.2 E versions in order to see the imported EPG.

Willy

PS: The Uk file has EPG for over 400 channels

Yes indeed,

I removed the UK bouquet before I did the sat re-scan and then re-built it afterwards

Everything OK now. Thanks for all your diligence

It's end of topic now
