No. 7.3 is an old version, and will no longer be updated.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Your version bump won't be part of the current build run (was already busy), but after the build run that starts sometime tonight (will be finished something tuesday morning).

It is just the version number of the ipk file name. Inside is 3.3 anyway... just packaged with the wrong file name.

But like you say I think his problem is using an old version of PLi.

Then you still need to flash the nightly build ;).

A backup is easy, if you choose "Flash image" in the menu, it will automatically prompt you to make a backup before you flash.

Note that:

  • ipk's you have downloaded and installed manually (i.e. not from our downloads) will not be restored automatically
  • data from plugins that store their data in a non-standard location will not be backed up

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Is there a way to save plugins i got on there i.e not from your downloads? Or will i just have to instally manually again after image flash.
Will the cams settings be restored after flash? That's the main thing, i can sort the plugins after. Need my oscams

If you don't have an internal HDD you will need to plug a USB stick on your box to use online flash.

If you use only plugins from the OpenPLi feed they will be automatically restored (but you need to use the Autobackup feature build in OpenPLi to create a backup).

If you place your softcam configuration in the standard OpenPLi location they will be saved too.

If you know for sure that you install files outside of the standard you can select them for backup:

Menu - Parameters - Autobackup

Press menu the 1 - Select files to save on the RCU and you can browse the file an select the one you want in OpenPLi backup.

You can also install BackupSuite from the OpenPLi feed this will take a fully restorable backup of your box so you can easily came back to the previous version.

OpenPLi backup is saving the file and the list of installed plugin, it will not create a restaurable backup like Backupsuite does.

With OpenPli autobackup you can upgrade your box, with BackupSuite you always restore the same image.

So both are complementary.

Sounds complex.
I have internal hdd, can i just download latest image and flash from the box.
I need some more guidance on saving my cams settings and external plugins like extreme editor.

Sounds complex

Huh?

Menu - Setup - Flash image.

Select the image to flash.

Flash with backup: yes

Sit back and have a coffee.

If you have external plugins: you've managed to install them the first time, so you can install them again?

A release image is a stable image, all software versions are pinned and no longer updated (unless explicitly asked for and tested by the author).

A nightly build or develop image is, as the name sort of implies, build in a continuous cycle, using the latest available source code, no matter what state that code is in, and no matter whether or not it actually works.

So if you're not a tester, developer and/or comfortable with flashing other software when the box crashes or is instable, the nightly build is propably not for you...

So developer image is not stable and used by testers etc.
The safe image for a novice like is the stable 8.1 release date 210821.
Select flash with backup and cams setting will remain hopefully.
Thanks

"Is potentionally not stable", yes. It is rare that it is,but it sometimes does happen.

All Enigma configuration, all standard OS configration (like network for example), channel lists, and Oscam / Cccam config (if downloaded from our feed), and all plugins installed from our feed, go in the backup, and will be restored if you choose to do so after the flash is completed.

I flash multiple boxes like this every day.

What requires manual action:

  • plugins installed by hand (manually downloading an ipk file). You can copy those ipk files into the backup directory, and they will be installed too.
  • data from plugins not stored in /etc/enigma2 ( we don't have a list of such plugins ), for those plugins you need to tell autobackup to backup the non-standard location too.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Via ftp. or a share mount via explorer.

The assumption is that if you know how to manually install an ipk, you know this too... ;)

You should have something like

root@vuduo4k:~# ls -l /media/usb/backup/
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            33 Aug 30 12:30 PLi-AutoBackup.tar.gz -> PLi-AutoBackup001dec13b734.tar.gz
--w-r----- 1 root root 395806 Aug 30 12:30 PLi-AutoBackup001dec13b734.tar.gz
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            23 Aug 30 12:30 autoinstall -> autoinstall001dec13b734
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2896 Aug 30 12:30 autoinstall001dec13b734

after a backup has run (mine runs every day at 12:30).

Just copy the ipk's you want to install after a flash into this directory.

How long does a fash take?
Just did flash image to 8.1 with back up.
8.1 front screen came up then it asked if i want to restore setting, clicked yes.
Now the old 7.3 screen has come up. Stuck on the page for 5 mins.
Is this normal?

No this is not normal.

Did you perform an online flash or via an USB stick?

What box are you referring to?

Flashing via the online method takes about 2-5 minutes depending the hardware.
