Hi All,

I bought the ZGemma-Star-S 2 weeks go as a replacement for our dead xp1000. So I'm just comming to understand it's weak points, however given its price tag, there not much to coplain about. But if they could be corrected would maker for a much better User experience.

The first and most noticable problem is with FTP. Whatever I try, I cannot get it to transfer faster than 50Mb/s (6MB/s). This is most noticable when sending a Recording to archive on my PC using Filelist-move/copy. It is taking over 5mins for a 1hr SD program 1GB approx. By comparison the same file takes around 2mins on my et8000. Both boxes and PC are on the same LAN/Hub (10/100).

Below are the ethtool & dmesg output relating to network adapter on the Star-S(sh1)

Attached File  SH1-NiC.PNG   31.97KB   2 downloads

Attached File  SH1-DMESG.PNG   12.58KB   2 downloads

Just for comparison the same for the et8000

Attached File  ET8K-NiC.PNG   28.82KB   2 downloads

Attached File  ET8K-DMESG.PNG   8.56KB   2 downloads

The second thing I have noticed is the erratic time/write speed it takes do to a backup using, Pedro's "BackupSuite". This falls way short of the regular/average time it took on my previous XP1000 with a similar SoC and memory. Whether or not this is fixable or just you get what you pay for, I',m not sure?  Just puting it out there.

Attached File  zgemma-1.PNG   17.23KB   2 downloads

Attached File  zgemma-2.PNG   17.45KB   2 downloads

Attached File  zgemma-3.PNG   17.37KB   2 downloads

Just for comparison I found this old Backup Log, again from "BackupSuite" thanks Pedro.

Attached File  XP1000-1.PNG   17.04KB   2 downloads

So Iif anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Cheeers Colin

The Zgemma 2S is good for watch TV and in my opinion nothing else.

When you want more speed you should have bought Zgemma H.2S

Mut@nt HD51 STB 4K

@pedro_newbie i see backup time in H2S or even new H3 boxes is more faster & less delay time , so is the hardware of new H3 boxes is really more faster coz it is dual core than the old sh1 models

I think as expected by the enduser. ;)

If I had all the knowledge I had no questions at all.

I can't compare with the sh3 boxes because I don't have or had them.

Thanks all for your input, sorry I wasn't online last night.

My main question was concerning FTP speed,, or lack of it to be precise and it appears that the network interfaces (RG45 port) are locked down with no adjustment possible (ethtool -i eth0).

This was further confirmed when I stopped Enigma2 (init 4) and I managed to get the FTP speed to rise to 7MB/s+ (56Mb/s+), which means it is running at full speed (100Mb/s)

Cheers Colin
