On the original Enigma2: Release 3.2.1 everything is OK - the file is playing well.

The same problem also by me on DM500HD. The reason for freeze is that it will run out of memory. It looks like memory leak in enigma. When I start the movie enigma usually uses about 120MB of RAM and depending on movie it eats about 2 - 5MB every minute. If you stop movie before box freezes all "leaked" memory is freed, so you can start it again and seek on position where you stopped it. I don't see such memory eating by enigma on my VU+ Solo SE, so it can be only DM related problem.

I've got the same problem with my dm500hd. Is there any solution to this, other than remuxing without subtitles?

You only need to remove 1 subtitle track, not all of them.
