@huevos
took a closer look at your zap-speed proof movie, and actually I don't think you can compare your test to mine...
you zap test looked like 3 services from one (same) transponder, then 4 from another one, and again 4 from another (not to speak all of them were FTA)
and as I wrote in my tests each subsequent service was from different transponder than previous one (and different quadrant mostly, for that matter...), in addition all scrambled
I can pretty sure guarantee that if I zap through 5 services on same transponder the speed would look exactly as on solo4k

@blzr, we are not testing the softcam speed, so I haven't included any encrypted channels in my test. I've made another video. Each zap is a change of transponder, and some are changes of sub-band. I would consider that "normal" zapping, that a typical user would experience. For me the performance is comparable to my Solo2 running a Universal LNB prior to the patch.
Video here: http://extra.satelli...ml.org/test2.ts (62MB).

Littlesat, it depends what you are looking for. Basic 5/32 switch is 130€, and prices are falling fast as the technology is becoming mainstream. Also when you look at switch prices remember the output can be fed straight into current TV cabling. When you compare this against a conventional install in a block of flats a Unicable 2 install even at the current prices works out cheaper. This technology has had rapid take-up in community installs over the last year so you can expect prices to drop dramatically.
Anyway, for single satellite, you can buy a Unicable 2 LNB with 32 SCRs for less than 70€. That works out at 2€ per SCR.

Both devices handle only one position and can't be extended. That's too limited for me, I require two positions.

At DrData, that means only one lnb would be available at once. That is no good with an FBCtuner, although it would work with some setups.

Compare it to a "regular" 8->6 multiswitch, which I can buy for about 80 euro's.Erik there are cheap EN50494 9/8 switches. Give it a few months and Unicable 2 switches will start getting cheaper. Anyway they are notso dear right now. Compare to a 9/32 Universal multiswitch.
The group of non-professional users will remain very very small.

EMP Centauri 8/1 (8) PIN 4 is an 8/8 switch. Costs 160 Euros here. No cables needed. You just plug the output into current tv antenna distribution system.
That's Unicable, not JESS. That's good value for your money, you can get it even cheaper. It's a bit limited though, it has no legacy outputs and no cascade, I guess that's why it's quite cheap.
Let me get this straight, I am all for Unicable support, just not JESS (without the proper hardware available). Actually I am going to by me a Unicable switch just for that.
I found a switch that's perfect for me (Inverto IDLP-USS2OO-CUO1O-8PP), but it appears no longer available, anyone knows how/why?

Probably going to be replaced by a 9/32 Unicable II model. Now Unicable II is well supported it no longer makes sense making Unicable I products. The first 8SCRs on Inverto Unicable II products are backwards compatible for EN50494 anyway. So my guess is you will soon see a Unicable II switch from Inverto in the price bracket of that 9/8 switch.
