Hi blaugrana, that's correct. The gstreamer 1.x images don't leave much space on 64MB receivers like the DM800.

I always format an usb stick with ext2 and copy over the root-filesystem.

Then change the autoexec.bat file in the bootpartition to read: root=/dev/sda1 rootfstype=ext2 rw rootdelay=10

The advantage of using an usb drive over the internal hdd is that the hdd can enter standby mode.

If you use the internal hdd for storing the rootfilesystem, you'll have it spinning up every few minutes.

Hi MastaG
I've used Flashexpander till now with my DM800HD.
And i was not able to install crossep till now as I just get errors when downloading and trying to install.
Could Flashexpander be the issue?

Would you mind to explain exactly how you expand your root on a USB Stick?

Thank you very much

BASED ON OpenPLi with gst 1.8.0 works great here.
Tested spark7162 (OpenPLi does not support this box!, dm800 and dm800se :-)
Expect some new builds soon.

Well hemertje, I can give you the "BASED ON"-one.

But this is "third party"-development right?

And spark7162 is no clone, so I dont give a fuck it aint supported here ;)

well MastaG,

you are still our guest here, and we dont like language or behave like above on our forum

besides that "third party"-development is at first place "Discussions about scripts, plugins, enigma modifications, C++, Python, ..." regarding our OpenPLi development, not an advertising subforum for images we as OpenPLi don't supported...

just my  5 cents on this...

As i understood MastaG is not releasing his builds as official OpenPLi releases. But as an own build based on openpli.

I think you should honor his effort, that a lot of people are now able to use your OpenPli-Images in old or not supported devices, "if".

Also no one is expecting the OPenPli Team to give support on his images. He does it by himself. This is a board like a community and people are helping each other.
But for me sounds like the openPli team is not amused that he is spending time on something, which the PLI team isn't interested anymore and just focusing on people who are able

to buy new (expensive) devices.

So please let him do his great job... and let him get people lucky...

Sorry for this, if it does not fit in the board rules. (then please delete)

The OpenPLi bootlogo and the OpenPLi name is copyrighted, using it is not allowed to use it on other images than the official images.

It is alsonot allowed, for the same reason, to use our sources to publish an image with the OpenPLi name.

The only thing we ask is to respect it!

Afaik these images don't use OpenPLi's official artwork? That was clearly communicated early one, so I don't think there is a problem?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Well hemertje, sorry for being rude I guess.

For the record, I'm not using any official artwork anymore in this build.

Feel free to remove the threads for my older builds if the official bootlogo is bothering you.

Also I'm asking the members to not talk about clone-hardware or smartcard-emulators.

But if I'm not allowed to build it for any other receivers than the ones on the PLi-supported list, then I guess I'm outta here.

Nah, no worries, I think it's a misunderstanding, because some of the users keep refering to it as an "OpenPLi image" (which from an end-user point of view is understandable I think).

The topic also doesn't help (Unofficial PLi 4 gstreamer 1.x images 2016-03). When MastaG release his next round of images, maybe a better topic would be: Unofficial based on OpenPLi 4 gstreamer 1.x images 2016-04 or something like that?

I think the team OpenPli need to quickly produce a new official release of version 5.0, using the GTS 1.8.0.

Sorry for bad english and "stupid" advice ;)

I'm not a licensing expert and maybe I am mistaken, but you should pay attention to that openpli-bootlogo package is distributed under GPLv2+ license which guarantees the freedoms to run, study, share (copy), and modify the software.

I think as long the package licnese not changed you should not restrict the use of bootlogo who come from the packages under GPLv2+ license.

Artwork is not covered by the GPL license, only code is. Artwork is protected by copyright, and requires permission from the copyright owner.

The (complete) source code.

Redhat Linux is also open. But that doesn't mean you are allowed to take the source, compile your own linux, and then distribute that calling it "Redhat Linux", with the Redhat artwork.

Linus Benedict Torvalds wrote the OS for free use.

Maybe not worth the OpenPLI called Linux?

Torvalds offended that his name mentioned without his consent.
