firstly I wanted to say hello and glad to be part of the forum thanks :)

I have a genuine 1st edition VU+DUO box (not a clone).

I have a backed up copy of PLi 4 that I backed up onto my computer, I just used dreambox control centre for the purpose.

However, I notice that the backup folder is called "fullbackup_duo" and inside that folder I have another folder called "20140506_0256" and inside that folder I have another folder called "vuplus" and then inside that folder I have another folder called "duo".

Now, Its been a long time but I am pretty sure to flash an image its just the vuplus folder that should go onto a usb pen drive, isnt it ?

BUT, I am wondering if maybe because this is a fully backed up working image (I hope, lol), when flashing the backup image do I use the "fullbackup_duo" folder (with the rest inside) or do I still just only use the "vuplus" folder ?

I am terribly unsure as I havent done this in years and cant remember anything now to be honest.

Can someone advise me please thanks.

UPDATE : I have just went ahead and used the "vuplus" folder that was well within the "fullbackup_duo" folder as I wasnt sure what to do and I am just desperate to try and get this running again the way it was before, I just hope I have done the correct thing and I am not just flashing a bare image that has none of all my backup settings on it, hmmmm

The backup you there have is a backup from May 2014 and therefore rather old.

Yes I know mate but it works or did work perfect until maybe one week ago.

I got it installed again thank goodness and it has all my settings etc etc etc still in it.

HOWEVER, LOL, without doing anything to the image really for the past couple of years apart from fresh channel scans maybe once a week and adding a new you know what (dont know if I can mention the L*** word in here so I wont but I gather you know what I mean), I am using MGcamd by the way as I was told at the time of getting this image installed that MGcamd was the way to go if using a certain type of L*** if you get me ? So thats what I have always went with as I say and its all been working fine now for probably a couple of years.

So, even after reflashing that backup image like I have done I am still getting the same problems with channels since about a week ago now and thats why I started to mess about with some settings etc that I didnt have a clue about thinking it would help but it crashed my box and therefore the reason why I had to reflash my full backup image just now.

The problems is this, I dont bother with bouquets and things like that, I just go directly to my "ALL" channel list and I pick what I want to watch from the list, I know some people would say thats mad but thats what I do, so anyway, since about a week ago I have noticed that lots of times channels clear and display properly 'sometimes', and then I can go back to those same channels a minute later and they wont clear, and when I say "channels" I mean loads of them, anything from normal channels like ITV/BBC etc to ones like sly sports, basically any channels at random, this didnt happen before about a week ago and I dont have a clue why its happening or how to fix it either ?

I can do things like restart the box and or computer/router etc and as sure as can be all the channels that didnt clear minutes earlier clear and display properly  , then maybe I can go and try to get onto some of them maybe a minute later and they wont clear or they do clear, its all very strange to me  , as I say, I dont have a clue how or why this carry on started in the first place.

I have very very little knowledge of all these type of things and therefore thats the reason why I am just one of these people who believe in the saying "if it aint broken dont try and fix it".

Its OpenPLi 4 thats on the box (I think), just thinking, how can I double check the version number ?, will it be somewhere in the box menu via the remote control ? Where would I see it ? or possibly see it through looking in something using DCC etc, maybe a certain file or something ?

Anyway, even though its still working ok sometimes like I mentioned, when all the channels start all that carry on and not clearing it really does my head right in.

I spend most of the time viewing the box in the other room from where the VU+DUO and router are using my computer and wireless connection, and talking about wireless connection, its always a full strength wireless signal and its Fiber Broadband, I have tested the ping using the "cmd" prompt and as far as I am aware thats perfectly fine as you can see in the image files attached, so I'm pretty sure its nothing to do with my connection.

Anyway, hope that didnt send you all to sleep reading all that, lol, and I hope someone can hopefully come up with the solution to sort it please, I mean very hopefully without suggesting using the latest openpli image as I simply wouldnt have a clue how to even get it all up and running unless someone was extremely helpfull and maybe put the image together for me with everything included on it that I need apart from the you know what L*** obviously, or maybe even doing a remote connection to my pc and doing it that way, I know thats a heck of a lot to ask but just saying incase someone didnt mind doing it thats all, I honestly wouldnt have a clue without extremely easy to follow instructions, a dummies guide in other words, lol, the most I can do is FTP a couple of things using DCC and even at that I need to be VERY careful I dont put things in the wrong place etc.

Put it this way, it was a mate that was big time into Satellite boxes that actually flashed that image on originally a couple of years back, so since then I have lost touch with him and I have only had to try and do small silly little scans etc and things like that as I said, I'm not stupid I'm just not that much into tech at all, lol, sorry but true and I know for a fact there are 1000's of people like me in the exact same position as I am with Sat and Cable boxes etc.

Can anyone help to fix my problems in any way please ? I dont mind doing some brain work so long as I am guided like a dummy, lol, no seriously, I would love ANY help or suggestions at all please.

Thanks and sorry for boring you all.

P.S,

I am in the UK by the way, Glasgow to be exact and I only have a normal fixed Sly dish and thats it, dunno if that helps but just thought I would mention it.

oops, forgot to add the images of my wireless net connection and the edit post option is now gone from the last post, so here they are anyway, not that it makes a big deal of difference but as I mentioned it I thought best to add them.

Hope someone can help me with the problem I have previously described in detail, probably far too much detail, lol.
