Looks like there is a problem with updates with latest version on DM800.

On VU zero works ok.

Yeah, I have a new feed server in the making... so the old one is bugged.
Also I'm keeping glibc at version 2.19 (eglibc that is) to keep support for the dm800hd which runs on linux 2.6.18.
As glibc is not forward compatible I'm not shipping the 3rd-party feeds.

If I did a manual install of glibc 2.20 on my Zero, would it be compatible?

Yes for all receivers.
For the dm800, dm800se and dm500hd I've created a nice plugin which will copy over the filesystem to external storage (usb or hdd).
Then it'll install all missing plugins which do not fit in the 64mb internal flash such as gstreamer1.0-libav, ffmpeg, exteplayer3, serviceapp etc.. very nice.
So they have equal functionality.

I hope to start building tomorrow.

@nml

I'm not sure what are you trying to solve, you already mentioned that pau is working even with older glibc. Why are you trying to install newer version when there is no problem?

@mx3L,  am not trying to solve anything and pau is working. Just thinking of trying it for experimentation and interest, the reason for my post was I was wondering if a lot of other things in this image rely on 2.19.

So MastaG, do you think the epg issue with service type 5002 instead of 4097 could be fixed ? Or you have no idea on how to fix it ?

It is just to know if I have to search for another solution or if I may expect a solution in the future

Thanks a lot

nml, everything depends on glibc 2.19 in -my- builds, because I use it as a base.

I purposely downgraded glibc 2.2x to eglibc 2.19.

That goes for all receivers.

If a plugin fails to install you could try it manually using --force-depends though.

or just unpack it: ar x package.ipk && tar zxvf data.tar.gz

It may still be compatible even though the binaries are built using a newer version of glibc :)

osicam, pleae see the serviceapp thread.

No. You can never expect a fully functional Kodi on an STB.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

I'm not building OpenPLi 5 nor Kodi.

I'm far too busy lately for everybody's plugins/extensions requests.

Time is always against me :P

@ MastaG,  Thanks for the info, just what I needed to know.

Also thanks for your hard work on the images I have been running on the Solo 2 since April, amazing results with Exteplayer3 and the same on the zero.

You sure of that? Sure enough to bet some cash on it? :D

Kodi requires OpenGL(es) to render the gui.
Not many stbs support it (I heard people say most socs have support for it but didn't pay the royalities to have it enabled in the drivers).

So I need to setup all the dependencies just for Vu+ users?

But then again my "assumption" is that the majority of the Kodi users have it just for the addons providing free movies/series.
We already have that in the form of IPTV Player and TSMedia which have great support and updates on regular base.
