@dhwz

@christophecvr

You also don't understand how the old way did work? I can't store it somewhere else, it has to be in config.mediaplayer that is where E2 is looking for it.

And NO I'll not adapt it to your way. :P

 Sorry but here there is nothing my way. That is all pli teams way

@littlesat

I'll maybe change my mind if more of our users would use PLi/OE-A. But for now I'll not do any changes. Thats also what I've announced in December.

Remember ~80% of our users have VTi, 15% DMM and only the rest are some other images (and thats not a guess, I've detailed informations).

And I'll not force DMM/Vu+ to change their code, and even if they do who says they do it your way? ;)

I'm pretty sure DMM will not.  :P

@christophecvr

I know  :D

Which may even be a bit on the low side, given the fact that your license does not allow the product to be used on non-DMM, non-VU,or VU without VTI boxes. So the remaining 5% can only be other images on DMM hardware (assuming everyone adheres to your license).

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

@WanWizard

You really think anybody cares about our LICENSE? Gigablue is still abusing our plugin since the beginning, even publishing it on their official image. Using it for their own commercials on TV, publishing it as their great invention...  :angry:

And the license was restricted after that...   :rolleyes:

It is a while ago...but I also saw it on TechTime/Dr. Dish TV... and I was also surprised...!

GigaBlue does not support us... so we do also not support them... But should we all suffer from what GigaBlue is doing?

I also see regulary on GigaBlue acadamy stuff I personally implemented....

Sorry I tried only to explain why we currently have this restrictive license.

We are aware of Gigablue's attitude, they did the same with our remotestream software. I can only say that we do, I can't speak for other image builders.

Even though I personally have a big problem with restrictive licencing on open source software. What's the point of OSS it when your license restricts virtually all use of it? And yes, the downside of open source is that someone else can walk away with it, that is the spirit of open source. But you could have countered that problem by restricting commercial use of the software.

You should also consider that not everything shown on TecTime TV is pre-scripted by GigaBlue.

Pre-installing MediaPortal and shipping boxes with it was not OK. This was not done by me or on request of IMPEX - but a overzealous employee in his freetime offering preconfigured backups and installing his backups on boxes to ship. I also got upset as i noticed that - as it caused several other issues besides MediaPortal...

MediaPortal was NEVER included in any regular and official build of openMips. It was NEVER claimed by GigaBlue itself that MediaPortal was created by GigaBlue or openMips.

MediaPortal itself is rightnow on 3rd-party feed which is not directly maintained by GigaBlue.

For the sake of freedom i can adress to remove it from the feeds (exclude it from feed-sync) - if still needed.

Really? And what is this?

http://code.vuplus.c...icemp3.cpp#l322

I've already explained that a pass is not working, we also get the exception on Dream and Vu+ if the mediaplayer is NOT installed. But E2 still uses this config options even if the mediaplayer is uninstalled. ;)

Sure I could change the code, but again this code is working properly for us. :) But maybe I'll change it, who knows. :P

And dont't blame us for removing the config options from E2, because we never had a problem till December when PLi removed it.

Thanks, this is what I needed. I did not follow the whole thread and just looked at the spcific code piece in you plugin and did not look at the vuplus code.

But I understand the issue now and I understand your reasoning. (this is what I mean, by I just showing you how I came to my way of thinking, so it  becomes easier to shoot me B) )

On the other hand one cannot expect to always keep code for backward compatibility. That is more or end of the line production/end user products ;)

Openpli tries to be clean and not stick with old code to keep compatibility with closed-source plugins, as that will help in moving forward and keeping things tidy.

And not even for open-soruce plugins if needed. But in that case there is a change to discuss things with the developer, as in this case with you as developer of MediaPortal as the sources are visible (albeit only via looking at the installed file, I'm not aware of a public repository for your code, but I did not look for it either ;)

But I hope you agree that although your try/except code works fine for the mentioned distros, the code is not completely correct in respect to creating a new configsection because a subitem of that configsection does not exist. So thumbs up for thinking about changing the code!

And no I certainly don't blame you. You know how it is. Sometime just change thing and see of someone starts shouting. If so try to resolve (or revert the change if nothing else is possible). To everybody, be open for change, that is the most efficient way the make create new and creative things!

Geen wonder... Had slechts een dm7000, maar wel ook een rotor. eigenlijk al een tijdje ook een dm600 en dm7025. Maar nu kijkend met een et9000 en vuduo

And the itunes stuff does also play now!!!

But still I hate that I had to move the config.mediaplayer to UsageConfig... But this is more a historic related topic...

Thanks a lot!

I’ll keep in mind to change our code in the future, but first I’ll try if DMM (maybe also VTi) is willing to adapt the URL header way :)

At least this 'crappy' ;) image has now the most clean solution... You can even remove all those try/excepts with your current situation and it is in-depended from mediaplayer being installed or not...

Unless we did not had a good start in this thread, thanks for clarifying what really is happening here!!!

I read this thread and also littlesat's post on github, but I am not sure that I really understood what is to be done in order to get it to work properly.

I installed OpenPLI, installed MediaPortal 7.5 and then also had to install Python-argparse.

Now I tried to find the files mentioned in the GitHub post in order to change them, but I can't find them on my box?!

Box is Vu+ Solo², OpenPLI 4 (Image 2016-06-10), MediaPortal 7.5.0 from the link dhwz posted in another thread.

Am I missing something?
