I do not know if this is the right place to ask such a question but here goes nothing:

I have a Vu+ Solo SE v2 with twin tuners ie. 2x LNB inputs on the back and a motorised USALS dish.
The retailer I bought it from told me that there is also an internal loopthrough function on this so that I can internally "clone" one cable's input to be able to record + watch different channels in the same quadrant (transponder and polarity afaik?)

I have tried setting up my tuners in the box in many different ways but whenever I choose loopthrough either on A or B tuner well then I will get no channels showing at all, neither will my USALS motor move automatically or manually (drive right-left)

Everything works as it should when I set up only tuner A or B as simple single USALS tuner and the other tuner to not configured. Then I have manual motor function and automatic USALS working as it is supposed to.

I am well aware that I am limited in recording/watching different channels with only 1 cable from the dish but at least to have the channels in same quadrant showing would be an improvement over the "useless" twin tuner functionality that I have at the moment.

I will at some point with the landlords permission try to pull another cable from the dish and get a working dual output LNB but that is another story for the future, for now I would like to have the twintuner "internal cloning / loopthrough" working as advertised.

Anyone familiar with this and could point me in the right direction considering the tuner setup?

thanks all in advance!

General rule of thumb.

If your single tuner card has an output, then it wont loop through internaly.

Xtrend say the same in their blurb (manual).

Get an external F-jumper lead (out to in) and in settings for second tuner set same as tuner A

My box does NOT have any outputs, only lnb A IN and lnb B IN, and additionally it should do the "internal loopthru" as the salesman told me ?

I can not loop it externally as you proposed, this worked on my old box that had 2 physical tuner cards with both in and out but not on this Vu+

The receiver shows Tuner A and Tuner B in OpenPLi tuner setup so now I am pondering the settings in PLi for getting the internal loop to work, I have not tried with a static feed from the dish only with the USALS settings and maybe this is the culprit why it is not working? I need someone to confirm the internal loopthru works with motor setups also.

thanks tho!

OK, logicaly thats not going to work. 2 linked tuners and 1 motor.

More logical solution needs another cable and an extra LNB output. So for tunerA-motor-lnb & tunerB-lnb.

It will work. What difference does it make if the tuner being looped out is motorised or not? It cannot control LNB or motor.

The tuner being set as "loop to another", software based, cannot control the LNB. It will only be able to access a TP on the same quadrant as what the tuner it is being looped to.

This is the case whether the main tuner is a single fixed dish, a diseqc switch setup, or motorised dish. It has no control. Easiest way to see the difference is to start a recording. With the "nothing connected" tuner set to not configured, you will only be able to select the channels on the same TP. Once you set it to "loop through to..", you will see that there are more channels available. Not as good as having a wire from the LNB, as they say, something is better than nothing.

Some receivers will only loop from B to A. A to B does not work.

It worked fine with ET9000 when I had just a single cable from my LNB.

LNB 1 set to USALS while LNB 2 set to "internal loopthrough from LNB 1" or something like that.

Actually it does, but it depends on circumstances. E.g. tuner B is looped through to tuner A and tuner B is used while tuner A is not (e.g. by setting it as preferred tuner). Now tuner B is in full control of the LNB/DiSEc/Motor. But I have to admit that this is a rare situation, only to show that it is possible.
