Hi, I am using an xtrend 4000 for some years now. I noticed there was a kernel update some months ago.
Since then my box has become quite a bit slower. I know it's not the most powerful stb, but since the kernel update, there is a noticeable difference. Especially when recording! When a recording is running, the menu is very laggish and the spinning circle in the upper left corner appear very frequently, even if simply watching the same channels that is being recorded.
I also have another problem. I am using a network share (from my nas) for recordings, as an hdd replacement. I have tried both cifs and nfs shares, with every possible option combination (nolock, async, soft, rsize, wsize), but the speed I get is very very slow. Reading from and writing to the network mount (xtrend's shared hdd to pc) tops at ~2-3 MB / sec! The speed is so slow that some recordings have glitches. Accessing the network share directly from my nas (pc to nas) gives me about 50-70 MB /secs, which is perfectly fine. I understand that xtrend has an 100mbps ethernet, but I would expect to get 6-8 MB / sec.
Maybe the two problems are related? Maybe the slow network share speed makes the stb lag while recording? Does anyone know? Do these issues have to do with kernel update?
