The last few days there have been zero software updates (via menu) for my DM7020HD and Vu+ Zero. When I check for the latest commits it shows commits for 20 May 16. It affects both boxes, so is something common to them.
I just want to check that the updates are working for others and if that is the case then it is most likely my home network setup.
It was working fine until recently.
Is there any way to check if I can connect to the update source?

Hello, same here on vu solo2, nothing to download when using Software management update.

I did some further investigation and found this Telnet method to update.
init 4 opkg update && opkg upgrade -V4 sync reboot
It ran and seemed to work but Enigma 2 commits are still from 20 May 16. Is this OK?

So there were no changes. Nothing to worry about.

You of course are correct. There is 1 update today so it is working correctly. Thanks for the confirmation.
It just seemed weird that normally I do an update once a week or so and I usually have about 20 updates or more. Zero updates just was unusual for me but of course entirely possible.

We're very busy with an upgrade of our IT infrastructure, server replacements, migrations, new buildservers, etc. So there's less time to work on the image.
