Hello,

 

I am two years time Kodi user and I want to thank you for providing epg xmltv guide for Greek Channels. I used the rytec epg downloader service, which compliments those various IPTV clients.

 

At this point a request though, because I have users abroad who use my Kodi "build" and like to watch Cypriot channels. Cytavision contains guide info for their premium and other free OTA channels.

 

I think, since it looks a lot like OTE program guide web site in Greece, it might be easy to adapt existing code and scrape it as well to produce xmltv for it.

And just because I think Kodi is the best way to watch streaming content I will share the info with the rest of you.

There is nothing wrong with Kodi.

 

There is lots wrong with the plugins dealing with the EPG, with the author of those plugins (who doesn't want to rectify the problems) and with the users that run the plugins with their default settings.

 

For example:

- although the EPG is only updated once a day, the default is to retrieve all data (sometimes several megabytes) every 5 minutes.

- there is no fallback or round-robin support, so some download servers are more heavily hit than others.

- when a download fails, the plugin gets into a download loop, effectively causing a DDoS.

 

And these are just a few of the reasons why the download servers block all Kodi requests.

These issues have been fixed. Not to mention the rytec download service for Kodi which acts as a middle man and the mirroring process I have made. I am using fiddler for my test setup and haven't noticed that frequent retrieval.

You might be one of the few that uses the correct plugin, and have configured it correctly.

Our users at Greek/Cypriot Kodi group at Facebook use the latest versions for Kodi and IPTV Simple client, not to mention the even more updated "builds" we provide. I have even the latest version for rytec download service in my repository.

Would it be possible to create Cyprus EPG, if Twilight0 hasn't created it yet. I'm not a Kodi user. I will be using the EPG for "IPTV" app for Android.

You can easily do this yourself.

Use Webgrab++ (see http://www.webgrabplus.com/)

Thank you doglover, I will try and put these in my raspberry pi and host it myself.
