I am not interested in the whole epg.dat, just the dat files the work by LraiZer creates.

If they need to be adapted, what needs to be done?

Can someone explain how .dat files are imported into the EPG please?

Sent from my Moto G (5S) using Forum Fiend v1.3.3.

These old style RadioTimes format .dat files were imported by OpenPLi images via the radiotimes uk script and db_epg plugin  simples

https://github.com/O...cripts/rt_uk.sh
https://github.com/O.../crtepgdata.cpp

Maybe the RT Emu code could be adjusted to be able to output XMLTV formatted files as used by the EPG Import plugin?

1.  That was in the enigma1 days.  It worked very well

2.  Exporting XMLTV formatted files.....  What is different from using EPGexport?

3.  Modifying these *.dat files to be able to import into the EPG.
Simple: make XMLTV files from it.

Or produce a proper epg.dat from it.  (Which I do not know how)

Would it not be better, instead of all these complex workarounds, to add an OpenTV reader to Enigma, so this can be fixed at the source?

Yes that would be good, if we can find out what they need to be.

Please don't forget the EPG_ID numbers can be used for another service between 28.2/13

That has been suggested before.  And indeed it would be the preferred solution.

Which has been on your 'to-do list' for ages :)

On my wish-list. I don't have the skills, unfortunately, so it doesn't belong on my todo list.

OK, but reading

It is on my todo list. As a SKY UK user I have a vested interest in it. ;)

I thought it was.

Yes, as in trying to get it done, not in making it myself. If I could, it would have been there years ago.

LraiZer and Huevos have done some work on this.

Install the reader first (there is a mipsel and arm version attached), then install the GUI.

One question:  Why is this plug-in called "Radio times EPG Emulator"  and not OpenTV EPG reader?

Good question. The answer is in the first paragraph of this thread.

The name you propose would be be better suited to an actual reader for E2, like the Freesat one.

Maybe to 'hide' the real functionality for some reason?

No such desire to hide anything. If there was, it would not be so openly stated on the repository. There is still desire and will to create a native E2 opentv epg reader.

The Commando image for the DM500 used the radiotimes download. When that function was no longer available, an effort to emulate that data from the opentv EPG was made.

only recently has there been work for E2 functionality.

it is very rude and offensive to accuse others of being deceptive. maybe something got lost in translation.

Top works thanks to all involved

it is a pity it is not infact "radiotimes" data,  as there is 12 days data on that site (i know it is not using a site for download)
