pli update on line

hi I'm new to pli is it safe to down load the lates version of pli on my duo2 off the pli server on line or do I have to re flash my box with my usb stick

New firmware version always needs a fresh flash....

In many cases it's sufficient to do an update. But you should always have a backup so that you can get back to a running system quickly (even when you flash new image you should have backup of current system).
Software is tested by the devs, but it can always happen that a nightly build is not working as expected.

Just install the BackupSuite and run it, it's self explanatory. To make a backup on an USB-stick make sure you make a file on the USB stick with the name backupstick.txt, the content of the file isn't important.
The BackupSuite can be found on the feed via Menu -> Plugins -> Green button/Download -> Extensions -> Backupsuite

It is a complete image like a new one and it can be flashed like a new image or it can be restored via the BackupSuite itself.
