Hi all, I'm new here.

I have a ZGemma H5 decoder that has a BCM73265 chipset with H.265 HEVC hardware decoding (no 4K).

I have installed the OpenPLi image version openpli-4-20160603.

When I try to play a mkv file h265 1080p with the Media Player plugin I have this info:

"GStreamer plugin video/x-unknown decoder not available!"

I can hear the audio but the screen is black.

I have tryed with many other mkv h265 1080p files.

VLC codec information for the mkv files I tryed are:

Codec: Video Mpeg-H part 2/Hvec (H.265)(Hvec)

Resolution: 1920x832

Display resolution: 1920x816

Frame rate: 23.976215

Decoded Format : Planar 4:2:0 YUV

I have read many post on gstreamer and h265 support but I haven't found any useful information.

Is my decoder ZGemma H5 unable to play H265 video or I'm missing something?

Thank you in advance and sorry for my bad english

Your box is, the gstreamer in OpenPLi-4 probably isn't. OpenPLi-5 is due soon, which has a much newer version of gstreamer...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Right. With OpenPli 5 playback of h265 media files will work.

Won’t work.
H265 needs to be decoded in hardware on slow boxes. And your box is slow and don’t support h265 decoding in hardware.

Last hardware = software?

2 x vu+ultimo4k ((nb & 9.0r) dvb-c fbc + 1 dvb-s2) + een vu+duo4k ((nb) fallbackclient) met een Synology ds214+ (2 x 6 TB) op DSM 7.1.1 in ziggo oost (voormalig @Home) + A1/A2/A3/HB (TechniSat)

Which VU+ would I need, with loosing the connections / tuners I have with the DUO2 ?

With latest hardware it might be possible in software. but also depends on used resolution. Haven’t tested that as latest boxes can decode h265 in hardware.

“with loosing connections/tuners”
Sorry, I don’t understand that.
All VU+ with 4K in the name can playback h265 like solo4k, uno4k,...

I mean audio analogue connections, and component video...

And I have 4 DVB-S tuners now

Hi,

component is is problem nowadays but there are HDMI to component adapter available. 4 Tuner is not the problem with with FBC tuner you get up to 8 with only one cable. All depends on you system.
