I already found a cullpit in remembering the flags... due to settings updates I’m afraid I need to create a lamedb5.bak file... and manipulate lamedb5 ‘directly’....(also after a restart of e2)

AntiDash for testing, it hides dashed lines for channels you preconfigured it, in menu just press Add or Remove and Exit, it will be stored in /etc/enigma2/antidash.xml, not that right moment but frequently, at least on Enigma2 restart or shutdown, if you are setting up a new image just copy antidash.xml file to /etc/enigma2 and you are done, unzip and copy to Extensions

Maybe also a good idea... move it to a list of service references.

Indeed.

Point to think through: xml can grow big, if services disappear in the long run. How to clean the list?

Other point: will a long xml be slow to read everytime the channellist is opened or when apping to an other service? Or is the list read upon E2-start?

One of the big flaws in the current design is that everything is read into memory, I think we should stop fooling around with making the problem bigger...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

The advantage from this latest approach is that you also can 'flag' streams, which is not possible with the current flag system as it only can flag DVB services (that are in lamedb). For the VBI flickering dotted lines we could 'consider' to do approx the same as blacklist for parental control, by just 'dumping' service references in there (just in text format no xml... why making it extra complicated?)...  But at the end the whole stuff around bouquets and lamedb is ... uuuuh  lame....

For IPTV (servicemp3/gstreamer etc).... when doing it in a structured way the 'flags' be added to servicemp3 and from there it should be stored somewhere.

Make it a global parameter that can be set once for all... you over complicate a very simple solution.   :P

Once it set once for all we no longer care, we can play whatever we want without the annoying dotted lines...

And guys do you think when people will playback a recording, how will you handle the white dotted lines?

Make it a global parameter is indeed a very simple solution and we're aware it is your 'wish". But technically spoken it is fully incorrect as you -only- need to hide it for channels that have that ugly lines and in addition you might burn-in the top lines of your LCD-TV as they are continuously black...

The way how it is working now is as it should be... the issue you have is that you rescan channels and before you do the rescan you clear the flags also. So 'your' issue can be solved when we have a system that can keep and restore the flags after a clear and rescan. A forever blinding feature is adding insult to injury.

Of course we can add some improvements of making it more easier to set/clear the flag for you by adding the 'all' flags for a user bouquet etc...

The VBI hide flag also works for recordings when it is set. So that is not an issue as that is handled by the current software.

Correction: This is not only my wish other members express here the wish to have it permanant too, so I am not the only one.

For the playback, when the channels references changed it will no longer works (like we have with parental control).

There is only one other that wishes it... RvdD... And the wish is fulfilled as we have a plugin...

And indeed when the reference changes it is broken indeed.... Nothing to do about that...

In addition I'm busy to design a smarter solution... This is as far I designed it as I did not implement it yet... because my thoughts are still turning and turning...

Add an option to hide it on SD channels... It does hide it on all SD channels and only the first time you zap you see shortly the dashed lines (first we need to regognize if it is SD or HD or higher). As soon it recognizes that it is a SD channel beside the hiding function it also sets the flag (when it is a DVB service or a recordings - for IPTV streams this cannot happen) so the next time you zap to a DVB service or ts recording it is immediately hidden.

I think this might cover your needs.... which also results in not having it covered on HD and UHD services...

namespace + service name are still same... and when are changed, the quality of everything is usually changed...

Then create plugin automaticaly displaying 4 lines for services defined in some .xml by this 2 pars and with option for add/remove services from this .xml.

The xml method is also a think I totally don't like as it is in fact a work-a-round the real issue... lamedb = lame ;)

In addition I think just creating a text file as it is done for the blacklist for parental control is more sufficient and less complicated.

With my 'automatic' suggestion I think even having tricks like plugins and xml files and other stuff is not required at all. It simply covers 'on demand' the top 4 lines on only the SD channels. And it can be done in a common setting... And you still can hide them individually in case you 'rarely' see them.

P.S. I have probably an issue with Autism... So I cannot stand zoomed-in HD... due to overscan, this also means I cannot stand that we miss 4 lines of the 1080 in a full-HD picture... With HD channels I want to see all the 1080 possible lines as HD is designed for...
