Why need an extra plugin when we have it build-in?

Because it is painfull to use the build-in function we lose the selection when performing a scan with delete so I prefer to use this plugin to have it enable all the time.

This is a must have plugin.

Enable all time means you miss a line on top of each channel... Usually with a (re)scan of services the VBI-hide flag should not be overwritten in lamedb...

However it would be nice when settings (downloads) should also adapt...

What is the problem of losing 3 lines of pixels?

I even think that this plugin should be build-in OpenPli but you always reject this idea to have something permanent.

You don't have the complete picture (I'm a perfectionist)... Note these 3 lines could 'burn-in' on LCDs!!!!

And actually you do not need to hide it all times... What we have inside should be sufficient... It does resists re-scan... So I don't understand your argument regarding a scan as when a service already exists during a scan it takes over the 'flag' in lamedb.

Hiding it anytime is what we called in the Netherlands 'ostrich politics' --- head in the sand... See nothing, hear nothing... ;)

All workarounds, the only correct solution is to not store this information in the lamedb.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

;)... a long project that never did really start indeed... to store the preferred lags/subtitle/language  in a different file than lamedb....

Although not having the knowledge to create or even suggest a better option, I absolutely do agree that having to make the same setting over and over again isn't very elegant.

But IMHO blacking out one single line on the TV-display is not really 'harming' the multi media experience (as a system wide user option).

To have used the OpenPli way it becomes quickly boring. What happens is that on some channels only a few programs have those dotted white lines. So when you think to have marked all the channels when zapping you sometimes needs to add more channels.
And when you have several STB in different rooms you need to redo it on every STB.
So having it turned one once for all you no longer cared about it.
And even if you are a purist of image those 2 or 3 black lines won't change your experience, while the dotted lines are really boring. I really didn't think that I can harm my LCD with black lines.

Anyway I am really pleased that this plugin exist!

On how many channels do you (all) have this problem? I never see it, except on some obscure channels like Horror channel or Sony movies, so I sort don't understand the fuss about this....

And when you have several STB in different rooms you need to redo it on every STB. -> Arrange one box that has all services in the lamedb and userbouquets and then use the  fallback tuner import functionality...

I made some code more than 1/2 year ago that saves the flags and priorities in a separate file (prioflags.db) . and during loading the settings it was read after the lamedb was read...it worked smoothly. Maybe I should consider to push it one time... But it also needs some additions (e.g. clean up as it also keeps collecting non existing services, after a scan re-read so services that are scanned new that were removed previously are also overruled by the flags in that file)... Actually when you have this you can also consider to remove the whole flag/prio stuff within the lamedb/lamedb5 file.... (still read them, but when they are not there don't read them - or remove them from the lamedb5).

Biggest problem is, as PR2 said: it's often only several (parts of) programs, not all the time.

One is never ready with 'tuning' the affected services. And when you think you are, a scan ruins the whole setup.

Funny guys, I have signal arriving in 3 differents places all equiped with a STB and every STB has different capability, so why should I use the remote fallback in my case?

We already discuss this and you know my point of view about it.

Edit: concrete exemple I have two STB Mis capable so I can receive channels that the other one cannot receive.

Can this plugin be added to the feeds please (preferably built from the sources)?

Version 1.0 is already in the feed as a 3rd party but indeed would be nice to have a github repo for it.

So we can perhaps improve it to have it totally integrated into OpenPLi menu has a normal option (and make it translatable) for a sweet integration.
