Q: So why not link all Stingray radio stations to stingray music picon?
A. You had all missing radio picons pointing to stingraymusic. This won't be accepted.
Alright. So I have to make different picons/logos for every channel. Something I might prefer also.

Q. You have linked 4B1C_80F_600_FFFF0000 to hbo2-deswephosp which is I think the hbo2 picon allready in use for satellite
A. There were two hbo2-xxx. They did not match names you used. I picked the wrong one. That entry needs correcting to  4B1C_80F_600_FFFF0000=hbo2 (assuming hbo2 is correct). If there is no correct HBO2 picon, then it needs to be created and added.

I did not find any other hbo2-picon than 'hbo2.png'. But that is the most common used logo and I just added the dutch one, which is only used on 23.5E (and some cable providers, but I don't have the reference id of them).

So if 'deswephosp' represents the dutch HBO2 logo you are correct, only it has to be created and added.

The same applies to HBO 3 Netherlands and HBO 2 HD Netherlands. They also have other picons than all other HBO 2/3 stations on satellite.
The picon hbo2.png from the xyz-feed is okay for all hbo2-stations except the dutch one on 23.5E. I attached the right one here.
The picon hbo3.png from the xyz-feed is the one only used by the dutch HBO3 (on 23.5E), so that one has to be replaced with the hbo3.png I have attached to this message. For completeness I also added hbo3nl.

I also added the right logo for HBO2 HD NL and this are all the reference id's I know and where they should link to:

4B1C_80F_600_FFFF0000=hbo2hdnl
17B3_C82_3_EB0000=hbo2nl
17B4_C82_3_EB0000=hbo3nl

Q: How? What I now use is supplied by OpenPLi. I thought they use the Ocram picons too?
A. They are. As far as I am aware, If you install from PLI server, receiver will check PLI server for updates. If you install from Ocram's server, receiver will check Ocram's server for updates.
You can install his server feeds enigma2-plugin-feeds-picons.xyz_2015-08-31--19-55-30_all.ipk  Download from picons.xyz or if on PLI plugin server

I have installed that ipk, I have remove the PLi-picons and installed the ones from OCram. The only way I see the difference I guess is the date at the end? (2016-09-30 instead of 2016-08-17).

New Q: I used to have 220x132 picons, I see there are bigger ones, which should I use and why?

Q: Where to upload graphics?
A. Anywhere it suits you. People should be able to download them

Any suggestions?

Q: Which program do I need? Although I'd rather not switch....
A. carry on using it. If graphics are fine, they will be added. If they are not, hopefully not telll you off but advise you on what to do better.

We will see...

Q: I did not mean the build, but the picons from the (OpenPli) feed. First I need to learn how to build...?
A. Maybe PLI should consider naming different. Or not include the picons on their feeds. Means everyone will have to use Ocram's server then.
You do not need to build yourself.

Yes, I understand because of the xyz-feed I have now the right package!

The contributing guide is here. I hope it makes sense to the graphics people
https://github.com/picons/picons-source/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md
I have started this issue, so hopefully there will be useful feedback on the logos you uploaded. I think your HBO2 HD logo will not pass because there is no transparency. Lets wait for the expert response.

It depends on the skin you use. They have different sizes allocated. Most common used to be 100x60. Some have 220x132, 400x240, 400x170. Using a small picon that is stretched wont look too nice.

I think Alex_NL has not yet viewed the complete source of https://github.com/picons

First step to understand how everything works is downloading the complete source of the project. Click the green download button on github and download the master zip (https://github.com/p...hive/master.zip)

Unzip the archive and take a look at the source.

And if you wan't to provide some new logos or entries for srp-index and snp-index, read, understand and learn the contributing guide by heart.

I hope to see a post form Alex_NL soon at https://github.com/picons/picons-source/issues/122

I'll quickly add this:

hbo2nl.png is not going to be accepted as valid, you should use something like "-trechuhipe" (see: https://github.com/p...e-password.com)

The reason:

We've got channels called:

MTV Germany

MTV Austria

MTV UK

MTV Radio Germany

First two share a logo the others do not, with the old way of using country codes, could cause problems....

Easy...easy...one step at a time, I'll get there...
Maybe
I hope so...
Till now if I was reading something on github it all dassled to me, what's written there is sometimes not very readable and not always easy to understand, but I'm very willing to learn but it will take some time.

Already very thankful for all your help, especially Abu Baniaz.

Some questions:
What is meant with 'When submitting svg files, make sure to convert text to paths.'
What is Inkscape and I should I worry about where to download the logo?
Do you have to contribute all types (default, light, dark, black and white)?

By the way, finding logos >800 px is almost impossible...

What is meant with 'When submitting svg files, make sure to convert text to paths.'

First thing you should understand is that there are two types of images: bitmap images and vector images
Watch to learn the difference between bitmap and vector images.

SVG means Scalable Vector Graphics and is a file format for vector images. SVG files can contain text with a reference to a font like Arial or Helvetica. But the font itself is not included in the svg file, so you need to install the font on every computer that opens the svg file to render the text correctly. That's why you should convert the text to outlines/paths, so you don't need to install the font anymore on every computer that opens the svg file.

What is Inkscape and I should I worry about where to download the logo?

Inkscape is an editor for vector images. You can download this software for free at https://inkscape.org/en/

Paint.net, Photoshop, etc are editors for bitmap images.

I hope you understand by now that vector images are the preferrable format for most logos, cause you can scale the logos to a bigger size without losing quality or sharpness.

It's preferable to look for logos in vector format, there are different vector file types, for example ai-files, eps-files, pdf-files or svg-files.

Most big tv broadcasters provide at least one public website where you can download logos in vector format. For example: http://pers.vrt.be/fotoweb/index.html and http://www.persgroep.be/logos

You can also find vector logos in brochures and folders of tv providers, for example: https://www.online.n...t-W-klanten.pdf https://www.freeview...ANNEL_GUIDE.pdf and http://www.movistar....aTiendaCast.pdf or http://www.tivusat.t...ivusat-2015.pdf

Do you have to contribute all types (default, light, dark, black and white)?

No, you should at least provide the default version.

By the way, finding logos >800 px is almost impossible...

I understand, but you should try your best to meet these rules.

When adding +1 to a logo for example in a "Sky Movies" font, if the text isn't converted to a path, the server that builts the picons, uses one of the fonts that are available, resulting in a poor logo with perhaps a +1 written in Times New Roman.

Some logos that use a more common font, can still contain text by default, it might look OK on a desktop, but if the server misses the font, same poor result.

Best practise: always convert to path, when building it should prompt that some logos contain text, so if you always to a test build before submitting a PR, all should be good.

I still can't overlook the procedures, maybe someone can explain it in simple steps.

And/or first some questions:

- How to extract pictures from a pdf-file?

- I can hardly find any vector-images, if I find a bitmap-image 400px or more, is that accepted too?
- A lot of picons are missing because the name is just a little bit different or because a name is exactly the same of a unwanted picon.

So if I just want to contribute a service reference or a different name which needs to be linked to a allready existing picon, I don't have to bother with pixels or vector images.

But how can I do that the easiest way?

Submit a pull request with the SNP name you want added

or because a name is exactly the same of a unwanted picon.

Ocram's SNP index can cope with the SRP references as well as SNP refernces
If there are two services with same name but are actually different, Ocram's SNP-index file should have the SRP refernces.
Example is sky atalantic

skyatlantic=skyatlantic-clivebesle
22_1_85_FFFF0000=skyatlantic-wispelutri
