hi,

the samba version in pli is 3.0.37 and is already elderly - is it planned to put in the newer version 3.6.25 in pli-4.0 image ?

i ask because i need protocol SMBv2 (option vers=2.0) it's for better performance.

regards

No.

There is an OpenPLi 5 on the way though, which contains (at the time of writing ;)):

Unless it will not be installed by default, but as optional. Many people won't need Samba.

As far as I know, only the old DM800se is hampered by the image size. The rest of the boxes have plenty flash to accomodate the image being a few MB larger.

And since OpenPLi no longer officially support DMM products this is really not a problem then.  ;)

The dm8000 remains built (which is actually not the same as "supported"), but the dm8000 has more flash - no problem.

"Steal" Samba 3.6.25 from an oe-a image ... or better: switch to an oe-a image.
Samba 3.6.25 is even smaller than 3.0.37 as it was shrinked to the bare minimum and uses one multicall-binary for smbpasswd, smbd and nmbd.

Or even better:
Get rid of that old pile of junk :)
